I clicked onto my homepage and found this FO story. I was amazed to read yet again that noone actually had a victory over Venus Williams. She went back to the "I kind of beat myself" bs again. A comment I might expect from a 15 year old? Oh wait it was a 15 year old that rid her from the tournament..lol

To the lamest of losers we bid you farewell, for good hopefully or at least til the next time you beat yourself.

I think I am going to make a Venus Williams shirt and sell them on the bidding place that says "I didn't lose, I beat myself"

it was obvious that venus dint play 100 percent..otherwise, she would spank that 15 years old.

her problem is that shes not focused and commited to tennis. ever since she's involved in other activities(designing, writing), shes been either losing or injured and u can see that her shots are shaky.

My sentiments exactly. That's why I posted my thread right after her loss yesterday! Those williams sisters never give credit to others.

Hi Seksii. She didn't play her best, that is true but she should start giving credit to others. Anyway, I saw Karatancheva play sharapova last season and she played much better than yesterday against williams. Therefore, if anything, she played far below her normal level and still beat venus. Honestly, we have all had matches in which we have self destructed and given free points and games to opponents but most of us don't try to take away from the other person's victory. Just last week, I had a 4-0 lead over some guy and I hit three consecutive shots in the net to lose my serve to go 4-1 but I told him, "nice comeback" as we changed sides not, "God, I really gave that one to you". I actually like venus' game but not her attitude.

Saying "I kinda beat myself" every time you lose is effectively a form of cheating.

The sooner Venus gets real and gets rid of the goofball parents and hires a *real* coach OR just bows out of the game gracefully whilst her legacy isn't totally tarnished, the better for all!

i dont consider sesil playin FAR below her normal level. i agree that she didnt give enough credit credit to sesil, but shes has good sportmanship and attitude, better than some players on tour such as sharapova.

Harder than those of us with normal parents might think.
Only one thing got them out of the ghetto and that was Richard's relentless determination. Combine that with no exposure to nomal life with peers, an us-against-them mentality, grandiose opinion of their value - common to many celebrities, who also think they have something unique to offer the world, apart from tennis/acting - and they just cannot see themselves as others do.
All very well telling Dokic to lose her father, as I wish too, but he is normal for her.
The dads, in particular, make themselves seem indispensable, and will do anything not to lose the meal ticket.* Even Hewitt, who is by comparison very normal, drags his parents around. He thinks he needs their support still, he thinks he needs Dad to argue with the ATP for him, when in fact Dad causes most of these brushfires.
Who else is trustworthy in their eyes?

*Davenport is one well-known exception to this. She has referred to the fact that her parents have their own life and work, so why would they want to watch her doing her job?

Venus needs to shut up and admit she lost. The other person obviously played better.

Geez, the attitude of the Williams sisters **** me off...

Certainly one of the most intelligent and insightful posts I've seen on these boards.

Thank you Yours!05 for that snippet of information. It only confirms the reasons why I admire Davenport as a player and person. The quite achiever, always very down to earth, no hint of an ego, unlike the the Williams circus acts that centre on celebrity/ego status only.

Your right in your views about the parents influence, but at least one has had the maturity in trying to break away, Dokic.
