"I know I can be one of the best in the world and win major tournaments" Nick Kyrgios Is Attempting to Rewrite The History Books

In case you haven't heard the latest news from the Kyrgios camp, Nick recently stated in an interview with ESPN that his time in the sport is more than likely over.

The article is here in case you want to read it: https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/39372052/injured-nick-kyrgios-says-sport-over

I have to admit that I got a laugh out of Nick's comment about he had a legitimate chance of winning the Olympic gold medal back in 2016.

He also says that he believes he could come back and win more grand slam titles if his body was able to hold up.

What are your thoughts?

He must be talking about doubles, since he said more.

Just three words lol at his delusions.

The way that the media describes Nick Kyrgios as being a box office attraction, and a former grand slam champion, you would think that they guy would have won at least five grand slam titles.

When in reality he doesn't have any.

Whar behavioral issues prevented Nick from representing Australia at 2016 Olympics?

The Australian also revealed he won't be putting his hand up to represent his country at this year's upcoming Paris Olympics, citing the treatment he got from the Australian Olympic Committee in the lead-up to the 2016 Rio Games as a "disgrace," and a key factor in the decision.

"I was No. 13 at the time and had a genuine chance at winning a medal. For them to forbid me from representing my country for behavioral reasons is something that I just can't forget," he said.

Does "innocent until proven guilty" still apply here in the Enlightened™ West- or have we advanced
beyond such notions?

Was just checking as Nick has already pleaded guilty to assault this year.

Yeah, that rewriting the narrative is apparently only allowed in one way. if you believe his haters, then he would be a domestic abuser, while in actuallity, he isn't. But I suppose holding Krygios to the same standards one would set for themselves is a no go.... Makes them feel better about themselves, no doubt.

Kyrgios imho is/was one of the most talented players out there. Once he started to get serious about things, he made good runs, he did win a slam in doubles, he got to the finals in Wimbledon and he had pretty good h2h against the top. So yeah, he certainly was a contender.

“I sit there and watch some of the players on tour and know within myself that this generation is not as strong as some of the players I have gone up against.”

He only thinks he can win majors because he knows it was a weak era.

Sorry to tell you mate.

I don't think anyone practices 7 hours, but fwiw, he works his balls off every single day. That whole midnight gaming spiel was half a decade ago..
How would you be in form for top atp levrl with so little practice (just a few hrs or less a day)? Starcraft pros were known to practice 12+ hrs a day

He had the opportunity of his lifetime in Wimbledon. Novak was not at his best, losing sets to Kwon, van Rijhtoven, Sinner and Norrie... while Kyrgios was having fun on court, and had a W/O in the SF...

And then Novak trolled the sh1t out of him :D

He is never coming back to win a slam.

I guess nobody bothered to read the article. Nick says:

"Any speculation that I'm "retired" is absolute nonsense."

"Yes, the last year has been tough with injury; my knee, my wrist. But I'm hungry as ever, constantly rehabbing in the gym. I just want to let everyone know, all my fans, I'm coming back, stay tuned, but there's plenty left in the tank, don't stress."

Haha I love that the entire thread (Myself included) took OP at his word because no-one cared enough to actually read an article about Nick. Shows how "popular" he really is. Federer posts a random video of him practicing and people lose their minds thinking he might return but Kyrgios has to put stuff like "Don't stress fans of me, I'm coming back" to re-assure himself he's still relevant (Spoilers: He isn't)

Sorry to tell you mate.
Sorry to tell you, mate:

Basically, Verbatum what the post you responded to happening before your eyes there.
He had talent. He had skill. He didn't have mental fortitude. If he could keep it together, he could beat the best players in the world.
He wasn't over-rated, he was just disappointing. Likely the greatest waste of talent in the history of the game.

Not when they played well. Nick could never beat those guys when they were playing at their normal level.

He is always good for a laugh, I’ll give him that. Try’s very hard to shield his insecurities, he never applied himself in the right way he always had the tools but not the brain that’s why he became the ultimate fool.

What tools are you speaking about ???

He has only a great Serve and some trick shots on his forehand.... other than that he has nothing.... does he have a great backhand? ... or flexibility or great athleticism or great physical conditionings? work ethic ?

This guy has nothing.... he is an embarrassment
