I need to switch off from money grabbing games to cheap ones, suggestions ?

I am playing "Vikings war of clans" by Plarium for 5 years now, and my monthly costs often exceed 300 $ for this insane ever greedy company that is full of updates and **** that drives community crazy.
I can't find any good catchy game that doesn't need investing, I need help to lure my friends from Vikings to that place.
