I really think Anderson is more difficult than Delpo.

It would be one of the greatest upsets of all time if Nadal lost. Anderson is a good player but he is a class below Nadal.

Give me a break. It's not a question whether Anderson can win, but rather how many games Nadal will let him win. Since I started following tennis, this is the biggest joke of a Grand Slam I've seen - both regarding level and the draw. However, with that said, Nadal is the only deserving winner of this tournament.

If Djokovic, Murray, Nishikori, Wawrinka, Raonic were in the draw, and Federer was healthy, this would be a totally different tournament. I mean, there is a reason Nadal hasn't claimed a HC title since Doha, 2014. It would be like Federer suddenly winning the French with no zoning players, the players mentioned above withdrawn and a Nadal on 30%.

Nadal will get #16, but if there ever is talk of weak era/draws during Federer's prime again, then the Rafa fans talking that way should be put in a room with the key thrown away.

Lets assume this tournament was indeed weak. It still one tournament no where near 03 and 07. 4 years man He won 12 slams in that period.

If Rafa isnt on his A plus game and got tight he can be ROSELED very badly.
Some of the clueless garbage on here never ceases to amaze. Unless they put grass down for Sunday Anderson will do well to get a set.

On a medium speed hard court Nadal I don't think has ever lost to a serve bot. His trouble is against guy s who move well and hit solid groundies. Djokovic obviously but think back to davydenko nalbandian and recently fogini and pouille. Ferrer on hard court used to trouble Nadal.

Carreno busta may well have bothered Nadal a lot more. Whereas Anderson took busta racket away Nadal would not have done that and if a bit tight may have got out grinder. Busta is a very solid player.

Anderson doesn't move well and won't be able to sustain long rallies and will be relying on hitting Nadal off court but that will be tough to do over five sets and will play into Nadals hands much like delpo did. Delpo much better from the back of the court and he just got a schooling.

Anderson may get the first set while Nadal is struggling to pick serve up. After that Nadal will work him over .

One thing that has been noticeable is Nadal relaxed when he loses the first set. He has utterly hammered everyone after losing first set.

But his draws weren't weak. He was too good. Many fans simply use the weak era/draw card because it's unimaginable to them that a player could be that dominant. You gotta see the context, which is to watch how the players Federer faced were actually PLAYING, not only base assumptions on their number of titles in GS, which is what you do.

His main rivals were weak. Agassi was really old plus Hewitt and Roddick not ATG players.

I dont deny his greatness but he has weak competition during his peak years. That exactly 4 years. Not just one GS.
At what premises they are weak? His opponents certanly pass the eye test in terms of quality but lets see their results, H2H vs Murray, Djokovic, Nadal:
Roddick 5-4 Djokovic, respectful vs Murray+Nadal
Davydenko 6-5 Nadal, respectful vs Djokovic+Murray
Safin faded past 2005, still 2-0 vs Djokovic
Blake 3-4 Nadal
Coria - incredible player
Nalbandian - what he did at Madrid/Paris 2007 is just ..
Agassi decent

You would say 2010-2011 bla bla but at that time those were already 30 or retired. You can make a point that once they faded away, Murray and Djokovic were able to step up

Not a chance. Rafael Nadal isn't losing a slam final to Kevin Anderson. Rafa is in animal mode now and only a top notch Djokovic or federer would stand a chance of stopping him now!

When was the last time Nadal was off in a Slam final?

Nadal is so much better than Anderson than even if 2014 AO final Nadal showed up he'd still win.

You are right, and everyone that thinks otherwise has a very short memory span, but... More difficult than Delpo? Yeah, Rafa might get tight, but so might Big Kev, and which one is more likely?

Weakened field or not, Anderson's been playing very well. If he doesn't get too tight it will be a good match.

I expect Anderson to be nervous judging by his reaction to winning the SF.

That said, he is exactly the type of player to trouble Nadal on really any sort of court. Last two rounds he has been serving from a tree and ripping shots from both sides.

That said, I fully expect an easy Rafa win. 76 64 62 or so.

6-4, 6-2, 6-1. Anderson to climb his box after the first set to celebrate the fact that he won four games.

Unobjective comment. Nadal did defeat Delpo who was playing in a top 10 level. And Federer was not injured, he just was surpassed by Del Potro because of his wrong strategies (apporaching the net in bad moments and being too precipitated). Stop with the excuses. Seems like you can't accept that a healthy Federer lost to Del Potro.

Delpo was playing like a top 10 player for one set. Oh, Federer was moving like a cat, never moved or played better! And you say that I came with the unobjective comment? Lmao.

It's no excuse, it's facts. Rafa will win this tournament deservedly, like mentioned earlier, but that doesn't stop this tournament from being a complete joke. For some reason everyone knows it except some Rafa fans.

I can very well accept a fresh and healthy Federer to lose against Del Potro (like in the USO 09 final) or any other player.

This tourny still better than RG and Wimbledon.Regardless of the result on sunday afternoon.

Fed really should have played better against Delpo. As Delpo's loss against Nadal showed, where he played trash in the last 3 sets, he wasn't even close to 100% this tourney. He never is.

Fed lost the opportunity to stop Rafa in the semis and he flunked it. That's the most disappointing thing about the USO this year.

You guys do know Federer was carrying an injury and his preparation totally disrupted by it?

People who expected him to play his best seem like armchair fans who don't play sport at all.

Are we talking about his back? I didn't realize it was affecting him that badly. Seems everyone except Nadal was injured this year.

No assuming. It is weak.

Nadal has close/losing h2h with a few players from 03-07. Your attempt at diverting the topic is laughable.

It obviously wasn't as bad as Montreal, but I don't think there's any way he would've played this week if it wasn't a Grand Slam tournament. In his press conference after the Delpo loss he said “Good thing is that I need a rest. I have a rest now, so that’s good. That’s actually the thing when I walked off the court, I was, like, Finally, I can rest,” Federer continued. “Because I’m tired. I put a lot into it. I was not sure I could play, to be honest, so I’m happy I get a rest now.”

For that to be his main reaction instead of being upset at the loss means he had to still be hurting more than he was letting on during the tournament.

Anderson is too happy to just be in the final. Will probably be tired from jerking off all day and night having gotten there.

Nadal 1, 2 & 2.

This could be a problem, but could also change the minute he thinks he has a chance to win this thing.
Is playing the tournament of his life, so is in with a shout.

again, bullsh*t from the new ************* member.

You can't lose to servebot if you don't play an in-form servebot.

At the USO, from 2008 onwards, the only 3 in decent form big servers nadal has faced is fish, querrey in 2008 and del potro in USO 2009.
he won vs fish, querrey in 2008 in 4 sets and obviously got thrashed by del potro in 2009.

he got a clearly below par lopez in USO 10, tired, #21 ranked roddick in 11 (roddick had beaten nadal ranked in the 30s in 2004 ) and no big/really good server at all in 13, 15,16.

all part of the massive luck Nadal has had at the US Open.

Now coming to the other US Open HC courts in summer:
he lost to Fish in 2011, Lopez in 2015 and Kyrgios in 2017 at Cincy, lost to del potro in 2009 at Canada.

at the very least kevin a. is in better health than delpo was so he has that going for him...
and i think he could actually make it interesting if he plays like he has nothing to lose and knows
hes probly never going to be there again so he should make the most of it...

i wonder how far back rafa will be to return kevins serve...
