Since the last time, our Russian peasant liberator has turned a ripe 21 years of age. His results of late have been less than stellar, his ranking has dropped worryingly (with Doha points to defend at the start of next season as well), and he has struggled to find any consistent form since the Brokeback Mountain episode.
Nevertheless, my faith abides.
Meanwhile, let's appreciate the Rublev haymaker. An underappreciated facet of his game is his admirable footwork. I don't mean movement overall – speed, running, scrambling – but his offensive
footwork is on point, and a large part of why he's able to carry out his aggressive precision game. The boxer in him shines through.
