Bouchard just cannot get that “one” more match to get herself to the next level and get her career back on track! Just finishes as a “loser”!Tebbutt:
There is no doubt she looks more muscular on the court, able to better summon the power tennis that has always been the trademark of her game. Asked if she is physically stronger, she replied, “definitely. I made a point in the off-season to get really physically strong and I feel the difference on the court.”
Any player would try to get in as a MD entry! Falling below the 300 ranking and you only do ITF events of $15K-$100K and even winning a tournament give you very few WTA ranking points like 5-20!Canadian Genie Bouchard, her current live ranking at No. 268,
I would love to see someone offer to buy a certain number of tickets only upon not extending her a wild card.
"Canadian Genie Bouchard, her current live ranking at No. 268, is entered in the tournament but with the proviso “main draw only”. She’d need a wild card, at this point."
I'll say this for Bouchard - she's savvy in terms of leveraging her IG followers to keep her tennis career somewhat alive - she has put a newly created ITF tournament in the situation of deciding whether to give her a main draw WC or lose out on her presence and associated marketing entirely. I can almost guarantee they'll cave to her demand.
One of them Last chances for Bouchard to do well - in the Fed Cup qualifying, make the team and Canada will given Bouchard a WC into the WTA Canadian tournament. To represent Canada in Switzerland in Fed Cup qualifying meet..
[Edit] She's in the Qualifying part of the Acceptance List based on ranking, but ... Main Draw Only,....the player will play only if there is a spot available in the main draw.Don't tell me they caved to her extortion....
The listing above is for the 32 round qualifying tournament leading up to the main draw tournament which has not started yet! I think it starts on February 10 but it could be the date for the start of main draw tournament, however. She's in Qualifying list based on ranking, but ... Main Draw Only,....the player will play only if there is a spot available in the main draw.
I don't really think those are comparable. I mean Sock won tournaments and didn't have the meteoric rise Bouchard did. The other two are no way comparable. They never reached Bouchards ranking or even close.I think Jack Sock, Donald Young and Ryan Harrison come to mind!
It is the lowest yet she has fallen to in her career I think! Bouchard is ranked around 267. If she drops to 300+ she pretty much had it in the WTA tour and moves to only ITF events like her current Kentucky Open coming up! If she falls to the 600s, she out of the Pro Tennis Tour and has to work her way back in the amateur recreational circuit to reach the ITF Transition Circuit.Genie is 26 this year which is actually young these days in tennis but really has to turn things around because after the highs she experienced in 2014 this must be near rock bottom
