Jack Draper fought back go beat Chung Yun-seong 5-7, 6-0, 6-2, so will be Evo's second-round opponent in Nottingham, possibly indoors!

Injury-prone Jay Clarke retired in his first-round match against the Australian James Duckworth when 4-6, 0-2 behind.

If indoors they shift to HC? They did that one year at the Tallahassee Challenger, moving from outdoor HarTru clay to indoor HCs.

Yes, apparently the indoor surface in Nottingham is hard. They're playing some of the matches in the bottom half of the men's singles event at the moment, probably indoors again as the weather there is still awful. Evo is in the top half of the draw.

Also, some of the first-round singles matches in the WTA tournament in Nottingham are currently being played, again probably indoors. The light is beginning to fade here in London where it's 8.16pm and has been raining for most of the day. If they're indoors in Nottingham, they can in theory continue playing for the next few hours.

Apparently this mess was enough to convince Bernard the Tank Commander to quit at 6-7 0-1.

Australia is lucky to have Alex De Minaur and Ashleigh Barty as its number ones in the men's and women's games. Two very talented players who always give their all on court without any histrionics, and who also happen to be two very likeable, down-to-earth people.

Apparently this mess was enough to convince Bernard the Tank Commander to quit at 6-7 0-1.

Evo beat Jack Draper earlier today in second-round action in Nottingham, probably indoors. The score was 7-5, 6-3. In the next round Evo will play Mikael Ymer, the no. 15 seed.

Dan Evans has been awarded a wildcard into the main draw of the singles event at next week's tournament at the Queen's Club in London. In first-round action he will play Stan Wawrinka, the no. 7 seed.

Meanwhile, up at the Challenger tournament in Nottingham, Evans has reached the semi-finals of the singles event after a tough three-set win over the German Dominik Köpfer earlier today. In the first set Evans was 1-4 down but then held and broke serve twice to lead 5-4 with his own service to follow. However, he lost that tenth game but recovered to take the set on a tiebreak, 7-6(6).

In the second set Evans led 3-0, 4-1 and 5-2. He served for the match at 5-3, but was broken, then had one match point at 5-4 on the Köpfer serve. But the German held and took the set in the ensuing tiebreak, 7-6(6).

In the third set Evans broke serve at 2-2 and just kept his nose in front for the rest of the set to record a 7-6(6), 6-7(6), 6-4 victory.

Evo reached the singles final in Nottingham earlier on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-2 win over the Japanese player Go Soeda. The other finalist is the Russian Evgeny Donskoy. The final is due to be played at some point later today, outdoors on grass, when it's not raining.

Evans is the champion in Nottingham! Defeats Donskoy 7-6 6-3 - 2nd title in as many week - great preparation for Queen's and Wimbledon. I don't think he's due to play Wawrinka at Queen's until Tuesday - later the better really so he can get as much recovery in as possible. I believe he'll rise to the kid-60s in the rankings, also.

Dan the Man meets Stan the Man for the 1st time on grass. Stan won both their 2 previous encounters (both on hardcourts) but Dan always took at least 1 set.

Hooray, Dan is back, can't warm to Corrie's game which only left Edmund who has had a wretched post injury season so far.
I'm hoping this is the part where Edmund gets a few decent wins and at least builds a bit of confidence. I think 3R/4R depending on the draw would be a good result for him given his form of the past 6-12 months. It's amazing, because when Edmund and Chung made the semis of the Aus Open, they were both looking to become big threats in the game, and ever since both got injured they've basically been non factors and handful of Next Gen players have taken over from them.

Next up for Evo is Portugal's Sousa - he'll overtake Norrie as GB #2 if he wins that one and I think he'll be ridiculously close to his career high rankings, 1 off perhaps.

Yes, an excellent performance from Dan Evans earlier today at Wimbledon against the no. 18 seed, Nikoloz Basilashvili. Thanks to some very intelligent grass court play, including a killer sliced single-handed backhand, Evans built a 6-3, 6-2, 5-2 lead, but then wobbled before recovering in a third-set tiebreak, where he was always in front. Only the Portuguese player Joao Sousa now stands between Evans and a first appearance in the last 16 at Wimbledon.

He has a good chance against Sousa, and it would be great if he could be back in the top 50, because I think that is where he belongs

Live ranking #52. If he beats Sousa, he will rise to either #42 or #43 in Live Rankings, dependent on Hurkacz’s result tomorrow vs Joe Kovic. Yes, if Hurkacz does not upset world #1, he would be within one rung of his career best #41.

He’s also now #32 in the Live Race. He will move up at least three spots there with another win.

Pretty excited for him...I feel getting back to 41 or better is something that would mean a lot...I’d love if he did a real, proper, insightful interview so say speak...

2020 is looking to be a year he can make a big push with his chances of getting far up into the 20’s or better with decent results on HCs and the indoor fall schedule. I see seeding at AO’20 and possibly a high enough seed to make 4R and better a realistic goal.

Ummmmmm...I am not sure really....For me getting to 41 and working hard as he can would real achievement...Totally uncertain whether top 30 or top 20 is his peak....I just don’t know!

Notice my original response...a win on Saturday gets him inside top 30 in The Race and he has only Challenger points to defend (one title and about 100 other points). If he improves on that net, as he should easily, he’s going to be solidly inside the seed line at AO’20 and perhaps high enough to avoid playing top 8 in 3R (#24 does that).

Interesting....Very interesting....I suppose I feel other players will start stepping up and over take him in the race.....I suppose in my head I am just trying to figure out 'Is he a top 30 player or top 20'........Ummmmmm......

Playing for the right to be mashed by Rafa. Still, if Dan somehow manages to get through he could well be put on Centre court on Monday.

Ahead in every set and never facing a BP until midway in the second set but he couldn’t close the deal, even with the chance to regroup during the break to close #1 court’s roof. Got the Brummie Blues right now.

Dan playing in Atlanta next week - thought he might take more of a break.....Is Dan likely to automatically get into Canada Open and Cincinnati? Or how does that? He is 55 in the world now....

Even at #55 he is likely headed to qualifying for the M1Ks, especially if any of the points were earned after cutoff date. It looks like one entry list site I use has him as #6 seed in qualies for Montreal. That site does not have a qualies list for Cincinnati but his points tally should get him qualies there too. Before that, he is DE into Washington ATP500.
