A fighting win for Dan Evans earlier today in Atlanta where, in second round-action, he faced Radulescu Albot of Moldova, the no. 6 seed. In the first set Albot led 4-2, but then Evans won three games in a row to go ahead 5-4. In the tiebreak that ended the set Evans was 1-3 and 2-4 behind before recovering to win it by 7 points to 5.

In the second set Albot led 5-2, but was caught again, this time at 5-5. However, he broke Evans again one game later to take the set 7-5. Although several games in the final set were close, Evans never looked like losing it after leading 3-1 and then 5-1 with two breaks. He closed out the match in the eighth game, sealing a place in the quarter-finals thanks to a 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-2 victory.

Dan Evans was outserved and outsteadied from the baseline by Reilly Opelka in quarter-final play yesterday in Atlanta as the American won 7-6(3), 7-5. Despite the loss, Evans will be ranked no. 50 when the new singles rankings are issued on Monday --a deserved return to the Top 50 for him.

A tricky test passed earlier today by Dan Evans in his first-round match against the Frenchman Adrian Mannarino at the U.S. Open. Evans took the first set but was a break down in the second before recovering to win it and, although Mannarino took the third set, Evans closed things out by winning the fourth. The final score was 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.

Nice, Evans just earned himself the chance to play Federer in the next round by beating Pouille. And based on Fed's performance so far, I think Dan has a real chance here. Exciting!

Evans is going to get thrashed by Roger. British players are not good enough, only the arrogant British crowds think so.

Really annoying that he draws Fed.. again. I feel he could really trouble Nole or Rafa with his style, or go fairly deep (4R-QF) with a decent draw.

How did I know Evans will get thrashed. Haha, easy straight set win for Roger. Evans had no chance, people bigging him up for no reason.

I still love that I can find this thread by typing stumble evans in google. :D Anyway, PSA: Dan is going to face this kid called Rafael Nadal in about an hour. Curious what that will look like.

Good start to 2020 for Dan, beating Goffin 6-4 6-4.

Edit, excellent tight win over De Minaur!! 7-6 4-6 7-6. Evans on a hot streak!

Evo into the second round and faces Nishioka. Seriously hoping he makes it to 3R so we can see if his game can trouble Novak at all.
His topspin BH is a bit of a weakness. He can do well vs Djokovic if he uses his slice well and approaches the net cleverly. I think he could possibly pull it off.

I apologise, only if he gets there of course. I have faith in Evo.

Is Dan still sponsor-less? His attacking tennis is quite exciting to watch. Hope he is not buying his own uniqlo any more!

Looking much different than a “drunkard or cokehead”, as his haters like to call him. Whoever Dan plays in the QF it’s going to be an awesome match to watch - Dan’s attack vs Monfils/Simon’s defense. Cmon Dan, get in lad!

A very good win for Dan Evans earlier today against Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the second round of the tournament in Dubai where the Englishman won a very close encounter 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(7). In the first set Evans was down 2-5 before coming back to take it and in the tiebreak that ended the match he saved three match points, two at 4-6 and another one at 6-7.

Super stuff - will be inside top 30 next week...Incredible comeback overall....Kind of feel that will be his peak but would be great to see him inside 30 for a consistent period of time.....I wonder could he do something fitness wise - I would argue like Henman he could be in better shape....Or maybe that's just the way he is so to speak....

He had a bunch of R1 and R2 losses in tournaments last year, many after qualifying, so this year he will play way less qualifying and be fresher for the main draws. He does have a few decent results to defend also, but I could see him breaking the top 20 if these results continue as he's been beating decent players for a fair time now. I'm curious to see how much he can improve on clay this year, if that's so possible late in a career.

Yeah he could definitely break top 20 but I am not sure he will be a consistent top 20 player....He might get in there but be gone a month or two later...He will indeed be fresher but will play tougher players sooner in main draws.....Anyway pretty cool to see how well he is doing and only 30 in May - would be hoping another 2/3 good years minimum....

Yeah, I think 2-3 seasons with some decent results would be the cherry on top for Evans who many believe didn't utilise his talents well enough for the first 50% of his career at the very least. I think the main thing will be to stay injury free. He did play many qualifying rounds last year - sometimes this is great as it allows you to settle at a tournament and already be match ready for the main draw, but I'm sure he also found it very tiring too when it's his 4th match already and it's only round 2 of a smaller ATP tournament.

Impressed with Evans in Rotterdam, instantly became his fan. He's fun to watch, with that backhand, agility and dogged attitude... and comebacks! He plays Tsitsipas next so I'll have to go with the Greek, but anticipate exciting game from both, whatever the outcome.
