I just checked tomorrow's tv listings on espn's website.

The morning telecast is showing Venus, and the afternoon is showing Serena!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've got Ferrero vs. Haas tomorrow. That's potentially the biggest 1st round match EVER in the history of grand slams. I can't freaking believe they're not gonna show it, but show those Gorilla looking women beat up 0 and 1 on some horrible no namers.

Jesus, i'm so freaking pissed i want to punch the telecast producer in the face. @#@#$O(@#I$)(#*%

Please go away. You are embarassing yourself. At this point, you can only wish TW see this thread and decide to send it to hell.

Oh of course. My sole purpose on this board is too stir up crap and make inappropriate racial slurs all the time. just check all my posts.

good job calling me out, all mighty keyboard warrior. The purpose of this thread was really not to complain about tv coverage, it was to crack racial remarks. I've been busted.

They didn't list it... but they talked it up enough to almost seem obligated to show the Ferrero match tomorrow (Ferrero being one of their "presented stories" and mentions here and there by Chris and Patrick)... but then again... they DID talk up Hewitt vs. Nadal and decided that Venus playing horrible against an in-form Lisa Raymond was worth replaying and dominating a timeslot.... And then tell us, who didn't get to see it, how wonderful the Henman vs. Canas match was.

At least they plopped Federer on the schedule. We'll probably watch Navritalova over Ferrero-Haas. However, under the circumstances, I would HARDLY CALL IT SUCH A GREAT MATCHUP (unless Ferrero wins, then that would be quite a story considering background info).

There are lots of matches I want to see tomorrow, but I'm sure I won't even see half of them.... After all, the Federer-Nalbandian quarter is like the quarter from hell. Read, BLOODBATH ON CLAY. You almost wonder if the officials should be allowed to manipulate the draw more to avoid such a lumped quarter.

Sigh... I guess we can watch highlights at www.rolandgarros.com *cough*

BTW, I am pretty sure you could be a bit more creative than gorilla looking women (or at least just omit the extra detail/targeting/venting)... that's pretty much asking for a response that has nothing to do with your real point. On a related note... Even if the Williams sisters weren't playing tomorrow, that programming director (or VP of programming?) would probably just find other matches to avoid showing Ferrero and Haas (especially after recent articles or talk of how Americans could care less about Ferrero). I'm guessing if you are playing dumb, I might as well play dumb and bore you to death with serious responses :)

The Williams sisters aren't my faves, but the description of them was unkind. The point could have been made without calling them names -- particularly a name that could be inferred as having racial overtones.

ESPN will continue to build up their "stories" by showing uninteresting matches, with the hope that folks keep watching the "name American" players and stay through to the end. And with the Williamses they may luck out -- as one or both of them likely will be there near or the end.

It's unlikely we'll have any American men there by the second week, so we'll get to see plenty interesting non-American matches by then. It's one thing I like about RG -- by the second week, they have no choice but to show non-Americans. Agassi's loss is just the beginning.

Now, the Ferrero/Haas match could be good, or it could be terrible, if JC is not physically fit. Which has what has been implied. So we'll see. If it ends up being a good match, with no one retiring, perhaps we'll get to see some of it. Hey, the Williamses' matches tend to be short, so that's working in our favor.

Well, he may have made some insensitive remarks about the sisters in his ESPN induced rage, but the title of this post made me laugh. I couldn't help but think that these were the last words his TV ever heard.

ESPN has 3 of the 4 Grand Slam tourneys but hasn't got a clue when it comes to TV coverage of tennis. They will have over 600 hours of coverage of GS this year and they pull stunts like yesterday. When they come on the air Agassi is down a set to an unknown. Do they go live to his match? NO! Theytape delay the entire match. Then last night at 11 they coverage starts out with coverage of AA's loss again. I can fully empathize with Matt H's angst over having to watch what will be 2 blow out women's matches featuring the 2 lovely lady sisters from the United States (there no one can object to that can they? Do you see any racist overtones?) instead of the more compelling international matches involving Ferraro and Haas.

Whether one likes it or not, "gorilla" has been used as a racial slight for a long, long time. The posters proclaimed ignorance of that doesn't change the conotation and rather than react with anger and self righteousness when called on it he probably should just say 'sorry, didn't know it and didn't intend it that way'.

ESPN will continue to show only americans and one or two other players that their polls say have a high enough TVQ. Trouble is, it is their broadcast choices that determine who the viewers know or don't. If they only show the same players over and over, how can they build a larger fan base for the rest of the players or the game?
It's a vicious, downward spiral from which I can see no excape. I plan to watch exactly zero of this years FO on anything other than video tape. If I see ten more minutes of a womens blowout I think I'm gonna puke. Even though the american mens matches are somewhat better tennis, I am developing a reaction formation against having the same three american players forced on me every broadcast.

Will be a good idea getting one satellital antenna able to get only the satellite signal we want in this case of Eurosports, I'm not talking about Direct tv, Voom or DishNetwork, I'm talking about the ones you could control and in that way point to the satellite you want to see, I know that in same cases you must pay an small fee but is not so expensive.
In my area Comcast is the provider of cable to me, they removed Tech TV and gave me YES Channel , we have the Golf Channel 24 hs. aday 365 days of the year still not news about the Tennis Channel and I'm getting 90 channels that only 6 are worthy to see, seriously they are make me think of dropping my account with them.
About the satellite antenna if somebody has any information will be nice to get some more info.

The channel is showing what the majority of it's audience will watch. That's what happens when the schedule is ratings and advertising revenue driven. It will be a sorry day for tennis if the matches are ever shortened to some sort of 4 game shoot out to fit TV schedules.

They did show about about an hour of the marathon , and the devastation of Agassi. And women are half of the field, so to-day it's women mainly. And it is an American network, so they show as much American stuff as they can to their American audience. The haas match is on live ausio on Eurosport, and it seems that the commentators have been given player name pronunciation lessons, & that's good. We're lucky in Canada to get this huge block of tennis.
