I was wrong about Fed, he has a shot to win slams this year

I think the Australian is his best chance. It's early in the year; he's less tired. He can swing away and recover better. Then.. as far as the rest of the majors it's all Djokovic.

So blind. So blind.

Bass Pro John Winsner has SW19 wrapped up already. The threat of the long one is over. Mentally sound state of mind.

Wouldn't shock anyone if he did not drop a set

Problem is Fed can't last a long 5 set match unless it's against mental midgets or guys he can intimidate like Stan, Kei or Cilic.

Been that way since about 2011. With Novak you knew he had to win the 1st set to have a shot. And Novak is good getting that 1st set.

Hmm, so Nadal is also a mental midget or someone Fed can intimidate?

Fedr is looking good and will win the AO

Already won Hopman Cup like I said he would earlier this week.:giggle:

On a serious note, maybe the word "injured" is too much. I see the Word "injured" is too polemical for RG 2009.

What about saying Nadal had some physical issues? It is undeniable Nadal was playing with some pain in the knee, otherwise he wouldn't have skipped Queens and Wimbledon citing pain in the knees since Madrid 2009. Nadal was the Queens and Wimbledon champion of 2008, he had no reason to skip both tournaments.

So yes, Soderling did beat prime Nadal. But a prime Nadal who was at 80-90% of his level, since he had some physical issues. (Again, I am not saying he was "injured", I am saying he had some physical issues since he was playing with pain in the knees).

Nadal was perfectly fine.

Tendonitis does not affect ur speed and he was moving around the court as best as ever.

Yes its painful but im sure Nadal was on painkillers do he didnt even feel it.

Its sad you have to make excuses instead of admiting that Soderling was simply in the zone that day.

Its a different thing to get outserved and get outrallied

Yeah, Karlovic on a good day can bomb the aces on anyone, including one of the best returners in the game in Djokovic. RBA does not possess such a weapon, and really has to grind and work for each point. I remember watching courtside in 2016 as he beat Marin Cilic at the Australian Open that year. When he's playing really well, he can be maddeningly frustrating to play against because he will make you play a lot of shots and extend the rallies. He gave Fed a really tough match last year in Shanghai too.

All he needs is for some rando to knock out the so called king of Aussie again and its title 21

Why does he need someone random person to knock out the so called king?

If he is just a so called king, why can't Federer do it himself then?

Yes
That's why nole fans should worry a little.
Nole wasn't getting blown off the court or outserved.. he was getting outrallied, which he normally does to these scrubs

So, could you tell me what you were missing, when you said the above?

The question is: what reasons did Nadal have to miss Wimbledon 2009?

I already told you, he was the winner of both Queens 2008 and Wimbledon 2008 (defeating Federer in the final).
He already cited he had knee pain since Madrid 2009 and skipped both Queens 2009 and Wimbledon 2008 to fully recover from his knee pain.

Fed still can beat Djokovic in majors but not on HC. For Fed to win , someone like Stan/ Medvedev / Zverev should knock out Djokovic in an earlier round

Djokovic will get up to play if the opponent is Fed.

Djokovic is the heavy favorite for the next 2 majors

Couldn’t disagree more. Same was said about Nadal and for much longer. Even though I’d heavily favour Djoko over Roger in a Bo5, Nole is not even close to any sort of unbeatable form. He can lose and recently has lost to a number of players and Fed would be favored to beat all of them. It would be a surprise, but it most definitely can happen.

Now the impossible feat would be Roger beating Rafa at RG. And if Nadal has a normal clay season, he’ll be the heavy favorite for RG, not Nole. Can’t see how you can claim otherwise, when Rafa absolutely butchered the competition for 2 years straight.

Sadly - I agree.

I think Fed had something to prove to himself at Hopman health-wise and form-wise - so he went for it.

I think Novak had only rest and recovery to protect after a great return in 2018 with fatigue by the end of the year, so he held back.

Novak still the heavy fave.

Novak is not at the same level as before but the difference is he just gets up for matches against Federer. BO5 perfectly fits his style and he can outgrind Federer.

I am not saying it cannot happen but i would put a HC major at 80-20 in favor of Novak.

Is my question so hard that you cannot give me a straight answer?

What are the reasons that Nadal quoted for the missed Wimbledon 2009?

All that he mentioned.

Don't tell me fairy-tales that I am not interested in.

8-)
