Has I do every year, I went to the only ATP level tournament here in Portugal, the Estoril Open, saw some cool new and old gear on practice sessions and matches, here's a small summary:

saw Nico Almagro practising with his new Volkl (and complaining about blisters, for a few minutes his coach had to play for him, once he got his finger wrapped he returned)

I guy I was curious about was Michel Berrer, a German veteran, supposed to be one of the last PS 6.0 95 users on tour. He played with a glossy blue Wilson frame, I believe it's only an Ultra PJ since PWS blocks were visible from the stands.
He played Gillermo Garcia Lopez, one of the players I've seen more times live, and I just can't get tired of watching that one-handed backhand, what a beauty

I confirm Coric change to something bigger (saw him playing doubles), PJ'ed like DR 98, but who knows what's behind. His girlfriend was there too, nothing special behind the PJ too...

And the most coll thing I saw: a Swedish doubles team, one of the guys, called Andreas Siljestrom, was holding an old Hyper Pro Staff 6.1 (with visible ridges, so definitely not an HPS 6.0 95) with a Pacific string logo only

    from wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Siljestr%C3%B6m

Besides Coric, saw Paul-Henry Mathieu and Kyle Edmund for the first time

It looks like Michael Berrer plays with the Pro Staff Classic 6.1 95 or something from that mold.

I know from a very reliable source (his racket technicians, a company called Ring&Roll, I asked them about 6.0 95 grommets, they told me MB used that stick) he used 6.0 95 for a long time, under almost all PJ's available from Wilson line, just google MB photos and you'll see.

6.1 Classic is very different, I would be surprised if that was the case

Edit: here's a pic from that racket http://www.sport1.de/tennis/atp/2016/03/tennis-michael-berrer-besiegt-juan-monaco-in-indian-wells

    visible PWS, and glossy paint

Your source is mistaken. AS you can clearly see grooves in the throat bridge that the Pro Staff 6.0 95 does not so it can't be that racquet. Also his racquet is NOT a box beam.

Clearly his racquet is NO Pro Staff 6.0 95.

And clearly not PS Classic 6.1 as on the pics he plays with 16x19
It could easily be something like heavily customized Wilson Pro Staff Surge 5.1 which also has some Kevlar in its layup.

Well guys, I got an invitation and went back today

Saw Verdasco being kicked by Carreno-Busta,Coric vs. a Brazilian guy called Rogério Dutra, Garcia-Lopez (again...) vs. Stephane Robert (very good looking tennis from this French guy), and than I had to leave

I talked a bit with the head stringer there, they were stringing Almagro's Volkls and some sort of 6.1 18x20 with a PS 97 PJ

vsbabolat: As for M Berrer stick, I still have that email from Ring and Roll, from November 2013, and back than, he was playing with PS 6.0 95 under steam PJ, never said he was playing with it now

Great post! Siljestrom actually still plays the retail HPS. He bought a bunch for it to last him long. Great stick and you gotta love players being retro...

Sounds like an awesome experience. I've seen Almagro hit multiple times live - was very impressed by the heaviness of his FH. Left me thinking if he used his head more and was a better tactician he would be much farther ahead in rankings. At that time he was using his Dunlop with the same Lux BBO. Did you notice any particular changes in his game with his new stick? Is he using the same tension as before? In comparison to his past stick I mean? You mentioned that you chatted with the stringer. What were some of the pros tensions for the tournament, just curious about the tension variations.

Hope you have fun man! I always love seeing the pros live. For a tennis fan it is truly a surreal experience.

Like I said, it was practice only, watch it for about 10 minutes, and it was a secondary court far from where I was

It's the second time I watch him live, he came here last year, and I saw him both practice (again, with Garcia-Lopez, this guy is like a rash, but a good one) and playing a match. He hits heavy both from FH and BH, reminds me a bit Stan the man, but with a general lower quality.

Did not like him, specially his attitude, very arrogant and rude to ball boys, yelling at them all the time. Good looking one-hander, but very far from Garcia-Lopez's

Did not notice any different thing on his game, but common, the guy is turning 34 soon, he was cracking FH and BH one after another as he always does.

I did not ask anything about tensions or strings since it's not a subject I' really care about, one of the stringers was doing Almagro's sticks, the other (the head stringer there, Mr. Rui Neves) was doing the PJ'ed 6.1 18x20, and there was 3 or 4 Puere Aero's from another player. It was 5 p.m., this guys tend to like freshly strung rackets in the morning, so most of the work was done for them

If I get back I might ask for some inside info, Mr Rui Neves is a very nice gentleman, I'm sure he don't mind if I ask for some info or take a couple of pics

You know those girls you see a photo from her and think "oh man...", and than you see her live, and think "nah, it cannot be the same one from that pic" ? I had one of those moments yesterday

She's just blonde with Angelina Jolie like lips, that's all.

Usually, both Croatian and Serbian girls are way better looking than Coric's

Yeah I agree with you there. And he cusses out loud a lot too. Not really a very good example for young sports fans with his temper tantrums etc. He does crack FH and BH good though. I have yet to see Garcia-Lopez live. Have not seen him play live yet.

That would be great. Would love to see some pics. Cheers
