I went to the club today and this happened ...

Got to meet my all-time idol, her husband and Novak Djokovic!

Meet might not be the right term .. did shake hands with Steffi, Andre kinda waived at me (or the club director standing behind me, I am not entirely certain) and did get to watch Novak practicing with Andre coaching ... boy I wish he were a little louder, I would have enjoyed hearing what he had to say.

Was able to watch for maybe 10 minutes before we were shooed away.

There was no advance notice, this was a complete surprise, I just happened to be there to practice some and poked my head down at the stadium court which is usually empty ... and there they were!

I don't even think Djoker is hurt, I think he is revamping his game in secret to POMO. Thought I saw POMO in one of the pics.

The lady in the background? She's taking cover from the lethal POMO FH.

that's awesome!
waiting for chas serve analysis on the first pic :P
what club? the darling center? (i played there a couple times last time i was in vegas)
djokovic might be offended by the djokovich spelling :P lol

how do you address someone, you've (i've) idolized (ie. steffi), mrs. agassi? mrs. graf? steffi? hi, I'm <name>, i'm a huge fan, can you show me how you hit that drive slice? :P

I saw they hit on the stadium court at Darling. With the wind usually kicking up there I love being down in the bowl when I hit there.

Looks like it was pretty chilly there given how the non-players were dressed.

Southwest had a real cold spell the last few weeks, with much cooler temps and a boatload of high winds. Was talking to a few friends at Indian Wells yesterday and they said it was a sandstorm on the courts there yesterday and cold.

we have been whining about the weather. About 60 degrees but with a cold relentless wind.
My match last Tuesday was 38F at start of match ... matches Saturday were mid 60s but with 25-30mph winds. Keep your sense of humor.

We have 4-15 inches of snow coming Wednesday so 60 degrees sounds great.

There is one set of tennis courts locally and it's basically at the bottom of a huge bowl (baseball and football fields) and the wind is normally 10-20 MPH. It gets up to 25-30 when it is windy everywhere else. We use it as our regular courts at noon when school is in session as our favorite spot restricts parking. It's better than the courts with cracks on it but I definitely don't like those kinds of conditions.

I have a rule that I don't play outside under 60 degrees anymore. Indoor courts are too convenient.

Would have loved a pic with Steffi and Andre.

Yup, this stadium court is a bowl ... maybe 10-15 rows of seating down. I'm originally from the north so I try to keep our weather in perspective but I have never lived somewhere so windy as here.

Andre never stood still ... you can see him in some of the videos posted. I saw Steffi up at the club house and then not again, my focus was on the court, LOL and I m a terrible picture taker, I live in the moment instead of recording the moment.

Yeah, Vegas is always windy so we like the bowl. It gets swirls down there when the wind is up, but not like all the top courts on windy days. My son down in the bowl a while back. Drops down there nicely, but getting missed balls is a pain with all the back and side court. lol.

It is a great court ... at a great club ... looks like that pic is from before they resurfaced it. A lot of people don't realize the club is owned by the city, so it is a fantastic public facility.

And yes, would be nice to have some ball kids when playing singles on that court. I have been lucky enough to have a few windy days where my league match got put on stadium court, go collect a ball and do a brain re-set when you need it .. but I really hate people watching me LOL

Cool. Best I've seen at our club is Vasek Pospisil practicing. Although watching him serve while I'm hitting my popgun serve was as intimidating as it got. His serves hit 8 feet high off the back curtain and my serves bounced twice lol. I'm just glad he was not watching.

@OnTheLine : what do you do in summer? Early mornings? Indoors? Are there a lot of indoor courts in Vegas?

Summers. @ChaelAZ can agree with me here likely as he is in AZ.
You can play in the morning until about 10am, 11am absolutely max. My club opens at 6am in the summer. Then again after 7pm. In between those times only idiots or fools are on the courts.
There are a lot of public parks with lit courts that you can play on at midnight or in the wee hours as the lights are on manual on/off rather than timers.

Vegas has exactly 6 indoor courts at a Lifetime Fitness super club.

Exactly. By July/Aug our worst days it is still 90 degrees at 6a when we hit the court and usually reaching 110’s by the time we are finishing. Club closes by 11a and back open at 4p, but no one usually comes around till 6 or so.

Probably posting from the court between sets.

I've been to the atp clay court championships in Houston and seen some bigish names, Tiafoe, Anderson, Chung, Bryan Bros, Dustin Brown, Opelka, verdasco, and a few more.

That's a good thing. Whenever I attend a live pro event, I am so busy taking photos and videos, I actually do not get to enjoy the match very much.
