So Roland Garros is a non-factor, in terms of making the ATP Finals.

In 2019, Nadal lost in the SF of Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid, because he wasn't allowed to have full practice sessions in early 2019 because he had ankle surgery at the end of 2018.
Nadal explained this in an interview at the 2019 AO, saying he was not allowed to practice his defense.

I don't think so. Even without RG, he can still make enough deep runs to qualify. Also, if they made up this covid rankings, they'd probably allow for the defending RG champion to qualify. If you're not in the top8 but you've won a slam that season, you can qualify. I'd guess they would change that around RG2020. Even without that, he probably wouldn't need it.

I don’t think anybody cares TBH - including Vamos.

Since 2005, he’s qualified for WTF 16 years in a row. But 6 of those years he skipped the event all together. And in 2017 he played on round robin match and then pulled out. Must be a tough time of year for him.
