If 5 years from now, the Big Three are all still in the Top 5 and winning majors, would that be a major indictment regarding the state of Tennis?

This is the worst take. You take any good journeyman from last gen (Roddick, Blake, Nalbandian, Hewitt, Verdasco, even Gonzalez) and they would carve through the current field like butter. Could you imagine a kid like Roddick with a monster 140mph serve and big forehand hitting the scene right now? He'd go HAM on all these mugs (+3 old guys) and clean up titles.

The level of play has absolutely fallen off a cliff. We went for 40+ years with each generation pushing the next one out, and suddenly there's nothing left to fill the void. A few decently talented meh young players. I don't know who or what's to blame, but kids aren't playing tennis anymore.
There's nowhere to go in the game now. If you hit a brilliant shot, it just comes back as either a looping moonball or a squash shot. The only method is to outgrind an opponent for 5 hours. How is that motivating?

They're going to have to speed up the courts eventually. Zoomers will never sit through 2 guys loudly moonballing each other for 4 hours straight.

I'm tagging in @Meles so he can point out to you that grass is an old man's surface these days and to ask him whether that also applies to surfaces that are fast but with a reliable bounce.

You don't need to speed up everything. The point of the grand slams used to be that each entailed a unique discipline, giving variety to events and a real challenge to the best players to adapt. No one needs to adapt now - minor adjustments at most.

5 years from now, Novak would 37, Nadal would be 38, and Federer would be 43.

If they are still winning Majors such as Novak at the Australian Open or Nadal at the French Open or even Federer winning Wimbledon or making deep runs at multiple Majors, what does that say about Men's Tennis in general?

Would that be a negative mark against the rest of the field that 3 guys in their late 30s-early 40s are still at the top of the game?

How would you feel if nothing really changed 5 years from now at the Majors?
Would people on here finally concede that it is a weak era?

There are massive changes that need to be made if tennis isn't going to slowly fade into obscurity (which it already is). We are almost at the end of the "open era," and it's time for something new to grow in its place.

Slams are going to switch to BO3, no ad, fast courts, etc. It'll have to.

They are already getting thumped. Once djokovic turns 36 the big 3 will be over.

A win here or there doesn't qualify as getting thumped. Last 13 Majors to the Big 3 and you just wrote they're getting thumped ?

Though I agree with you on this - when Novak slows down, that will be the end of the big three.

Well in best of 3 djokovic has been getting thumped. I guess i am just patient and understand the hurdle these players have to overcome. They have to play the tough field and usually have to beat at least 2 of the big 3 and even 3 if 2 of them are on their side of the draw! Do we really think we would have another big 3 so soon? Sampras fed nadal djokovic do not come around often.

AA was my favorite. He is up there just adore him but for me he should have had 10 majors him not converting one of those early FOs and one more USO leaves him off that list. Wish he would do more color commentary. Great tennis mind.
