If a player does not play a year at a tournament or has a walkover at a tournament, does their match win streak stay intact?

I have always thought that if a player does not a player a year at a tournament or has a walkover a tournament, then their match winning streak ends.

For example: Nadal's longest match winning streak at Wimbledon is 13 (2010 Win to 2011 Final), not 19 (2008 Win, 2009 DNP, 2010 Win, 2011 Final).

Similarly, Federer did not have a match streak of 24 in 2011-2012. He had a streak of 20 that ended with his walkover to Tsonga with a walkover in Doha Semifinals.

Although the ATP does not count walkovers as part of the H2H between players I don't see why a player's winning streak should be penalised by something he has no control over eg. his opponent withdrawing from a match so I would say the winning streak remains intact until they are actually beaten on court.

I concur with Mainad, the winning streak does not end if a player withdraws before entering a tournament, precisely because he has not participated in the tournament. The winning streak remains intact until they are actually beaten on court. Nadal did not lose any match at RG 2016, he just withdrawed before playing the fourth round.

LOL I knew this had an anti-Nadal agenda and quite specifically for his 5 consecutive Wimbledon finals.
