If Alcaraz is playing night session again, the potential Djokodal more than likely a night match

I highly doubt Alcaraz will have three night sessions in a row, if he was to play Zverev in the quarters.

I think having both Nadal and Djokovic play their matches during the day for the 4th round, on opposite courts means, they are setting them up for a night session, but with neither playing a night session the round before to get the edge. Not going to have Alcaraz on for three straight night sessions.

I had the exact opposite take. Doesn’t the night session always feed into the night session? Alcaraz would be disadvantaged vs Zod in the QF as he’d have much less recovery time in a day match.

Zverev match is late on SL also, so a couple of hours between his match and Alcaraz match isn't really going to change too much, and is balanced out by the fact Alcaraz is playing on PC for his fourth round, so will be better suited to those dimensions.

Yep, I think that is it. Djokodal night session looks the most likely.

I would be shocked if they put another Nadovic clash at night back to back after last year.

Why? Because it happened last year?

Alcaraz is not going to play three night sessions in a row, and if he wins against Zverev, a potential fourth one against Djokodal.

Can't really have Nadal play a day session on PC, with Djokovic out on SL again, and then have them play another day session on PC, where clearly Nadal has the advantage as he played in those conditions for his fourth round.

Btw, is there really such a big difference between day and night play? I thought the big difference was when it was a very hot day, which won’t be the case on Tuesday

Also, both Nadal and Djokovic would have played 3 day sessions and only 1 night session heading into the quarters.

Alcaraz three night sessions and one day session.

The more I think about it, the more it's obvious to me, that this was the plan all along from RG schedulers. They got Djokodal to have their night session very early on, then kept both on the day session for back to back matches....to then throw them together for prime time night viewing in the night session.

Just progressively cooler conditions more than anything else.

Or Diego takes out Novak. Then Rafa Diego is for sure a day match!!

I'm dangerously close to ignoring your looney fednatic account lol. Like two years have passed since you've said something even remotely interesting/constructive/non-butthurt... Nothing but grief in disguise Lmao.
You're certainly the best judge of 'interesting' and 'constructive'.

Wow Alcaraz really is being given star billing, he's been given more matches on Chatrier than Djokovic. Can't remember the last time Djokovic played 2 of his first 4 matches on Lenglen.

So if night conditions hurt Nadal in this match-up, why did Nadal beat Djok 60 62 75 with the roof closed in 2020? :happydevil:

Well, those weren't night conditions, more similar though they were. That was also a tennis miracle, aided in part by the fact that Djokovic was terrible in that match. I'm convinced he was not even healthy given both how flat he looked right from the start, and how he almost pissed his semi-final away and barely even celebrated after it.

Nadal's entire domination on clay is based around the bounce and topspin he generates out there under the sun off his forehand wing, it used to give Djokovic absolute FITS, even in 2015 when Nadal was trash Novak was moaning about it in the first set, and begging them to water the courts. At night it bounces nowhere near as high, thus making things much easier for his opponent. It's less about how it hurts Nadal, more about how it helps everyone else.

Plus, and this is amplified in their old age, but has been a problem for Nadal since 2011... He cannot out rally Djokovic, he needs to be able to hit through him, and at night that is much harder.

Yeah, hard to see them having 4 day sessions and just 1 night session each after the first five rounds.

And really I just can’t see the most blockbuster match of the entire tournament being a day match on a Tuesday lol.

Lol, complaining about conditions seems to be a common theme for Novak. I didn't watch in 2015 but he did the same thing in 2013. Moaning and whining the court was too dry instead of accepting the conditions for what they are. And again in 2019 vs Thiem when it was windy, whilst Fedal played in far worse conditions and just got on with it.

The two biggest names in the draw, and not playing prime time? Yeah...

Now definitely possible Nadal Djoko QF will be a night match. I was expecting Diego Djokovic match to be played on night. But probably they didn't want any of them to be played more night matches going into quarters.
Probably they were planning a night mach since beginning.

By the way its obvious who wants a night match and who doesn't so stop kidding yourself. Even before 2020 match and after 2020 Nadal still wants a day match one match performance doesn't mean he prefers night.
Honestly i don't know how much it affects the players but listening to players and watching the matches it certainly atleast little bit different giving some players more edge.

They should change their rule about scheduling night matches in general biggest match shouldn't be at night always since the FINAL is a day match. That doesn't make sense
What is the rule in other grand slams night matches idk can someone tell? Do they schedule biggest match on night.

So what will happen Nadal Djokovic night match if one of them goes semis and Alcaraz's come since this semi is the biggest match it will again be at night. Then the final will be a day match.
It will be disadvantage for these players aswell look how match Alcaraz playing night Djokodal too.
We saw Novak in the final first sets last year.

Oh, he definitely did it in all their matches, certainly all the ones from 2012-15. They had a policy in place then where they'd only water it if you requested it beforehand, and he never did. Nowadays I think they just do it between sets automatically.

If night session then Djoko will take it in straights. If day and hot and sunny then Nadal can take it to 4 maybe even 5 sets.

It kind of been the case at the USO that the night session features the more tastier looking matches. As example, they had Sampras v Agassi quarter final in 2001 night session for obvious reasons, they also had Agassi v Blake quarter final 2005 in the night session, Federer v Roddick 2007 quarter final night session.

Semi finals day, there is no night session, it will two matches played back to back during the day, with the second match being more late afternoon, as it has always been.
