If Alcaraz is playing night session again, the potential Djokodal more than likely a night match

Thanks since my timezone is very different in AO and USO i didn't understand which match was night and day while i was watching:)

Just a general rule of thumb, the hotter the ticket, the most prime time the match will be to get more eyes on it, and no hotter ticket here than Djokovic v Nadal...plus if Alcaraz wins his quarter as they are hoping, the the narrative writes itself...

Two legends and old rivals battle it out to decide who faces the future champion of the sport. Sells.

I don’t know why this is even being debated. Tennis is a business and Nadal-Djoker are the two biggest names in tennis. It will be a night match. It won’t matter that the guy who has won it 13 times wants a day session, tennis exists to make money.
Whilst this is a very fair point and I do agree with you. But if Djokovic and Nadal win comfortably ie. in less than 4 sets & the other QFs have 5 setters then I think there will be pressure on the organisers to allow them adequate rest.

If all matches are relatively quick, then yes it's difficult to see them not go for what you say.

Can I ask, does anyone know the difference in ticket price for the daytime match and the evening match? I was going to check online but RG have a crappy system where you have to register first.

As I already explained, in France the day coverage is on the national broadcaster and available free over the air

There will be a lot of backlash if such an important match is given to Amazon which a lot of people neither have nor want.

I'd imagine many in France want a late afternoon session.

This is an interesting point. I guess this more or less ensures a day match.

Though it is strange as to why only the day coverage is freely available and night exclusively with Amazon.

Do you know about the contracts ? It seems possible to me that Amazon pays RG some extra to get the match, if that's possible. In that case I suppose France TV wouldn't have a chance to rival Amazon

What's this about Amazon? What are they doing?

8 of their 9 matches at RG have been day sessions. Djokovic getting another night session would be great, presuming they both win their 4th round matches.

Eurosport had the contract until RG2020 and they could broadcast everything alongside France TV, which is national free tv.
Then RG needed to get back some money, and they sold the rights for night sessions and court Simonne Mathieu to Amazon, who have the exclusivity for these matches.
I suppose Amazon and France tv are gonna "fight" over the scheduling of the match.

Interesting.

It's what Nadal requested so maybe he thinks Nadal has more pull in that situation. I don't know about it being a day session though and we will see. Nadal sychophant Forget is no longer there who was always biased with Nadal's scheduling.
That’s a good point. I guess it still just rumours for now and nothing concrete yet.

Still thinking it will be a night match,

Alcaraz having the night session for 3rd round, 4th round and quarter final doesn't make sense.

And Djokodal playing four out of five matches during the day session....

I read about it in the French press at the time but nothing official in terms of details was revealed nor is it likely to be.

It's not just a dollar amount; it's the national tournament, national federation and national TV channel. It would be an outrage for many in France to put such a match out of sight for most of the country.

I don't know what they'll end up doing but France TV is the bigger client right now. Amazon is an additional revenue stream, not the principal broadcaster for France.

I'm more annoyed at the scheduling for tomorrow (Novak on SL for a second time?!), while Ralph needs no transition staying on PC. Making it a day match vs night adds to it bc of the primetime reasons.

Overall, idt it matters. Novak has beat Nadal in both the day and evening sessions. He's also played him a lot in the day sessions, a few times where he got close but shot himself in the foot. He's always been right there when he was in the right mindset. I've always felt Novak was destined to take over the RG reign for multiple reasons. He's simply a superior player. Clay makes it closer. If they meet Tuesday and he doesn't beat him, he doesn't deserve to win.

It's funny how Djokovic always gets condition conducive to him. Refused to open Roof at Wimbledon 2018 next day , Got night session last year ,and now a night session again.
