Nadal for sure. I've never seen the French crowd root for anybody but Frenchmen and Federer over Rafa.

Nadal is massive in Paris.

I think the crowd will be on Djokovic's side........because Nadal will annihilate him and sympathy will follow....

Not trying to be mean but has Djokovic ever had the crowd on his side against Federer or Nadal outside of team events where thousands of Serbs come to chant (‘20 ATP Cup)

Nadal, but if Rafa leads two sets to zero then maybe Djokovic in order to have a longer and more interesting match. When the match starts Rafa for sure

Djokovic.

The French crowd is more Snob and Federer biased than Wimbledon ; everybody here is afraid of 21.
I live in Paris surrounded by tennis players and fans, and everybody is basically waiting for Nadal's fall.
For instance, today the crowd was clearly for Sinner in the first set, clapping when Nadal was missing, etc...

Is there still an "IF". It is CERTAIN.
You might as well play that match instead of playing the QFs.
Berretini and Diego have exactly a ZERO chance of beating Novak and Nadal.

Anyway: Nadal vs Novak RG 2021 SF - there will blood on the clay. A 5.5 hour slugfest
Get ready for the main event.

Crowd will support Novak. They always support Nadal's opponent in Center court in France. That's nothing new.

The Rome crowd was clearly for Djokovic this year, which surprised me. The French adore Fed, I was just watching his 2011 final against Rafa and they were wildly applauding Rafa's DF's. Because they don't want anyone to surpass Roger, I'm thinking the crowd will be pro-Djokovic and for that primary reason. Those claiming Rafa is so popular at RG must not have been watching over the years. The crowd was clearly pro-Novak when they played in 2015 and 2015 as well.

Probably 70-80% pro Nadal. Would have been 60% Nadal and 40% Djokovic if it was full crowd. But since they are allowing only about one thousand fans in, I suspect almost all of them will be French.

Excellent post. Exactly my point.
Nadal gets LESS SUPPORT at RG. Even with 13 titles.
Fed always gets the most and Novak the 2nd.

Neither of these two has ever been held back by the crowd rooting against them, so I doubt it matters. French crowd is fickle anyway, the support for Rafa hasn't exactly been stellar over the years. It's why I love the NY crowd so much, they really appreciate him.

Different question though - how many people will be allowed into PC?

They played twice in 2015?

Oh, come on, that's just not true. They were plenty thrilled about that win in 2013.
I have every single RG match between Novak vs Nada and Novak vs Fed.
They always cheer for Fed and Novak more.
Even in RG 2013 - it wasn't until the 5th set that Nadal had some cheers.
In balance, Nadal is JUST NOT popular in France.

Compare that to Wimbledon. He's only won 2 titles there but gets plenty of support.

Djokovic has always been well liked in Rome. Shanghai too. There are a couple places on tour where it's noticeable.

Nah, don't buy it. They don't support him like the crowds in W and NY do, but they've gotten better over the years, especially after Fed became a non-factor. I'm not saying Djokovic isn't getting support, but saying Rafa gets none is clearly exaggerated.

I'm not saying Rafa gets NONE. Not at all.
The comparison was who gets more.
The answer is Novak. And if it was Fed vs Rafa. The answer would be Fed as well.
Nadal gets "LESS" support than Novak and Fed in RG. Always has in the past.

Djokovic is super popular player everywhere. It's only in TTW that he is criticized so much. Novak is most popular of the big 3 in Asia and most all other developing countries.

Federer is a demi-god for the French. Anyone who threatens surpassing his achievements is by default an apostat. They'll root massively for Djokovic, and expect them to be dancing syrtaki on the stands on Sunday vs Tsitsi.

He is pretty clearly hated on at the USO and Wimbledon though which is where this comes from
Hated is a strong word. I think he got plenty of cheers vs Nadal in the UsOpen.
And even in Wimbledon he was admired even while thrashing Fed a bunch of times.
Sure, Fed is more popular but that's hardly hating Novak.

Something like 70-30% in favor of Nadal.

The more they cheer for Nadal the more he (Djok) will be keen to dispatch him in 3.

He can be keen to do whatever he wants, the result will be the same : it’s Nadal who will dispatch him.

Not in the matches I've seen at RG. Even against Federer, Nadal still had sizeable support. Unless you go back to the 2000s. The crowd was firmly behind Nadal in the 2013 and 2014 encounters with Djokovic. The crowd cheered loudly for Novak later when he cried at the trophy ceremony.

Novak fan Hitman had made a thread then about how the Paris crowd was fully behind Nadal in 2013 or 2014.

That's 0% surprising. Rome's public has always supported Djokovic against Rafa. But Rome ain't RG. At RG the public has since 2008 always supported Rafa over any player, excluding French players.

I rewatched the highlights of the RG 2011 final, and the crowd equally applauds to both Federer's and Nadal's winners. The public is not supporting Fed over Rafa at RG, they applaud both of them with equal enthusiasm.
