If tennis was a fashion show you would be rightI wouldn't dismiss his elegance as "just elegance," his elegance is extraordinary.
He would pass Roger.
- Same titles
- more matches won
- 2020 edition cancelled during Nole's peak
- 3-0 h2h in finals.
No amount of Halles would save Fed.
Long way ahead though.
While 2003-06 finals won vs Philippoussis, Roddick and 20yo Nadal in his first grass final are ok
They had to deal with PEAK Federer. While 2003-06 finals won vs Philippoussis, Roddick and 20yo Nadal in his first grass final are ok
So it was during Nole's peak that Rafa took him to the cleaners at Roland Garros? 60 62 75He would pass Roger.

We can only hope.It is not even certain Djokovic will make it past R4. Fonseca will own his arse once again.
Will Federer be left with just elegance as his legacy?
Along with Sampras and Connors. The fall of the Mighty Fed will be complete if Djokovic ties him at Wimbledon. He will still be the greatest USO player of all time.

Roddick is 5-4 against Djokovic
He won it 5 years in a row and only 3 times between 2009 and 2021 when he retired. Not convincing.Fed won it five years in row. That’s dominance. Pete and jimbo could never…

The Weak Era ended in 2007. From 2008 onwards, he only won it three times. That’s still a concentrated dominance never seen before.
How is elegance a legacy? There are plenty of players who were as or more elegant. Will Federer be left with just elegance as his legacy?
woow so insightful ! you'd make a great power couple with Ernesto. In french we have a saying that goes like "Le contraire s'attire" which roughly translates to: The extremes attract each otherThe Weak Era ended in 2007. From 2008 onwards, he only won it three times.
I am being facetious because of what Santoro said about the GOAT debate. How is elegance a legacy? There are plenty of players who were as or more elegant.
Fact is that Federer was a great player, but in his own era, he was surpassed by Novak and Nadal respectively.
Rog would still be the greater grass player. 5 titles in a row, higher peak and overall tougher competition, everything goes to him.

Fraud was in one of his worst forms in 2016 and Cilic still couldn’t beat him
It would be nice to leave Fed not holding any major titles on his own though!I would still take Fed at 8 titles each. Djokovic would need 9 IMO.
Nadal has more masters and an Olympic gold too....Federer will probably be remembered as a greater player than Nadal tbh. The day will come when the only Slam count matters propaganda ends for good.
far fewer weeks at #1, zero ATP Finals, being inferior to Fed at 3/4 SlamsNadal has more masters and an Olympic gold too....
True. Just a pretty dishonest framing to say the only argument for Nadal is he has more slams. He leads in the slams and the masters the two main categories of top end ATP events and he also has far superior international resume in DC/Olympics. There's plenty of other things you can say for his case too of course but to be like oh Nadal is only ahead to the slam bean counter crowd sounds pretty ignorant when he leads in the second biggest title category (even adding Feds WTF to his masters count doesn't catch Rafa) and international play too.far fewer weeks at #1, zero ATP Finals, being inferior to Fed at 3/4 Slams

I don't care about the Olympics in GOAT debates that much. I think the YEC count matters much more than the Masters count. Not going to argue about so many reasons why Federer could be ahead of Nadal.True. Just a pretty dishonest framing to say the only argument for Nadal is he has more slams. There's no way. Djokovic's lucky if he wins a 2nd set off Wu.Will Federer be left with just elegance as his legacy?
