If Djokovic wins his eighth Wimbledon title.........?

Safiullin is in a red hot from right now...
Genuinely, the way he utterly dismantled Fonseca... almost feels unforgivable. Reminiscent of 2006 Federer at Wimbledon.

Honestly, I don't think Djokovic can win the next round. No, seriously, this time for real.
Safiullin vs FAA may be the real deal. Though, of course, either of them will be decimated by Sinner in the SF.
You say this all the time! If we look the 2 rounds prior Safuillin barely scraped past rublev and his 2nd opponent in 2 long 5 sets.

You will be right eventually but stick to relying on sinner the most.

Roddick was great on grass. He went toe-to-toe with peak Federer in 2009, while Djokovic faced 2 match points against a near 38 years old in 2019.
And Djokovic beat Federer.

And Djokovic faced Federer in 2014 and 2015 and beat him without facing match points. In 2015 he beat him convincingly. What about that? :D

You should put him on ignore, he is a troll and only does this things for trolling. He reminds me a lot of USO troll. Even if he isn't that guy, he is certainly some old troll member of the forum who got banned.

2014-15 Fed was so old that he won Halle and dropped 1 set until the final.

2017 Fed was so old that he won Halle and won Wimbledon without dropping a set.

2019 Fed was so old that he won Halle and beat Nadal in the Wimbledon semifinal

With Alcaraz out & if Sinner’s heat issues continue to confound him, the men’s rankings will more reflect the women’s, which start at an objective #20 in most other eras.

Who did Djok played, Batista Augt?

And still came out with excuses cause he played like that against a 38 year older. Typical slow court merchant behavior
Peak Sinner lost the Australian Open semifinal to a Djokovic who was 9 months older than Federer was at Wimbledon 2019.

Federer played incredible at Wimbledon 2019 regardless of age.

I don’t think Federer at Wimbledon is reachable for Djokovic to be honest, even if we imagine 9 titles.

"I remember in the 2012 Olympics, I played Novak 2nd round. I was unseeded but had won a couple weeks before and won two of the last three tournaments I played in so I was feeling great. I felt like Wimbledon was a place where I could still catch lightning in a bottle, make a bit of a run. Felt great in practice that week, went out 2nd round. Novak was someone who I had a decent record against at that point and he beat me like a drum. I was like a child on the court and I didn't play that bad. I lost two and two on grass. I walked off the court and thought I'm going to go out tomorrow and feel like I'm playing well. He just beat me like a drum and that was one of the first times where I thought this game is getting a little bit different than what I've been used to, these guys are from another planet right now. That one kind of hit home for me. The way he was playing in that moment was eye opening."
All of this is Irrelevant about your nonsense on Roddick being weak on grass

Djokovic inflated 4 Wimbledons in the CIE. Big difference.

Here's the thing. CIE is a Fedal cope strategy, don't give me that like it is some officially recognized upon thing that is registered in tennis history.

I can also say Federer's Wimbledon titles are weaker than Sampras, because his competition is no where near as deep. So lets chop Federer's grass court GOAT status down, since he only has it because he one - faced weaker competition than Sampras, and two, also ended up inflating his numbers to get past Sampras.

We can do this game all day.

Djokovic beat OLD Federer. Every match was close and he should have lost to a 38 years old Fed in 2019

I disagree that Sampras grass competition was deeper. Different style of playing doesn't equate to deeper. But Federer was able to win Wimbledon playing two styles(aggressive net-rusher and stayed back baseliner), adapting to fast and slow grass means more praise for his versatility.

The holy trinity{Borg, Sampras, Federer} dominate the grass plain during their peak/prime years. Djokovic only had 4 titles prior turning 32. Old, past prime Djokovic had better Wimbledon results is a testament of a lack of talent, tactical skills and mental fortitude from the 90s born players.

You disagree that a field that had Sampras, Kraijeck, Becker, Edberg, Agassi, Stich, Ivanisevic, Rafter, Henman and others wasn't deeper? LOL

What was deeper, Hewitt and Roddick and Nadal?

Everyone knows Federer feasted in a period where the grass court depth had gone south. That doesn't mean Federer isn't a great grass player, but he played against signficiantly weaker competition.

The holy trinity according to you that is. Lets make it clear, the reason why you don't want to say a 7 time Wimbledon champion who now has the record most wins in Wimbledon history at 106 wins, more than Federer, isn't top three, is purely because of your agenda, One of the things you used to claim Federer is GOAT is that he he is top 3 on multiple surfaces, of course someone like you, who ignored CIE and kept showing us the list all the way until the end of 2018, and now contradicting everything you said for year will never want to give that accolade to Djokovic.

When the reality is this, 7 Wimbledon titles, 10 Wimbledon finals, a record breaking 106 match win, Djokovic has become top 3 not just in the open era but of all time.

I like how you use the age 32 so you can put in Federer's 7 Wimbledon titles to equal him to Sampras. Newsflash, Sampras won 7 in his 20s and his prime, 31 is not prime, so Federer's prime was NOT as good as Sampras, so Sampras ahead of Federer if we use your way.

Let's put the names of US finalists that Federer beat: Hewitt, Agassi, Roddick, Djokovic, Murray

Hewitt and Roddick were both 0-8 in slams against Federer. They just couldn't beat Federer, however they tried.
Hewitt used to beat Federer most times early in their career, with Hewitt leading 7-2 at the end of 2003. Most famously, their 2002 YEC semi final (Hewitt won 7-5, 5-7, 7-5) and their 2003 Davis Cup semi final tie (Hewitt won 5-7, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5, 6-1).

Roddick lost his first 4 matches against Federer, before beating Federer at 2003 Montreal. Roddick had issues even with pre-prime Federer.

It depends as to how much today's match with FAA took out of Novak. Lucky for Novak, he has two days off till the Sinner match.
It helps but probably not enough. It not just the energy tank though. I think Novak can recover but sinner is just a superior tennis player than him at this point too.

But he started In 2014 beating him when he was 33, only the last win was when 38
Your point? Wasn't he supposed to? No one is arguing that FAA is at that level. I remain impressed with the way Djokovic takes care of his body. He is definitely the fitness GOAT, and I hope he keeps pushing it. His results this year are career achievements for most players. Without the injuries, Federer would probably still be beating guys like Felix - just another level, the Big Three. How far can Djokovic take it?

Who exactly did Sampras beat that was do much stronger than Nadal, Djokovic, Murray etc. on slow grass? Henman, Ivanisevic and an old Becker?

Sampras has the most overrated competition ever. It was strong until like 1993 and then declined heavily.

Are you seriously telling me that the competition of the 90s, which is considered the greatest field of grass court players is less deep than what Federer had to go through?

I would still take Fed at 8 titles each. Djokovic would need 9 IMO.
Novak would be a better Wimbledon player, with 3-0 h2h in finals (3-1 overall), more matches won, and the 2020 edition cancelled, but Federer would be a better grass player considering Halle.

Name me the best 5 grass court players in 1992-2000 outside of Sampras.

I'll just leave this here for you.

This is old man Becker basically in his last tournament straight setting a young and upcoming Hewitt.

I'm not going to waste my time having to defend the depth of the 90s on grass, when everyone who actually watched that period know exactly what it is what like.

Enjoy your day.

So Becker beating an 18-year old Hewitt in one match is enough proof that the 90s grass field was strong? The same Hewitt who at 16-18 was already pushing Sampras hard and by 19 he was fully dominating their h2h?

Dude come on, the field was strong until 1992/1993ish. Courier, Agassi, Ivanisevic, Henman and an old Becker on a fast grass court is not even in the same stratosphere as Nadal, Djokovic, Murray on a slow grass court.

The one and truly good player that Sampars faced throughout his career was Agassi on hard court, that's it. The field maybe seemed strong at the time, but fast forward to the big 3 and that field almost looks like a joke.

Enjoy your day. Keep telling yourself Federer faced tougher competition.

See you in the next thread. (y)

Totally, Ivanisevic who should've ended Slamless is a tougher opponent than a 22 or 24 Slam champion. If not for washed up Becker Sampras would barely have any Wimbledon champions to play against.

But yeah Ivanisevic had a big serve on fast grass, so that automatically puts him higher than Nadal or Djokovic on grass obviously. Who cares that he was an eternal choker, right?
