Actually a lot of next gen in there. FAA beat him at Halle aswell. Though 2021 Fed is a shadow of even 2019/2020

I thought Rublev was seriously going to be a star after that Fed win.
If you watched enough of Rublev it was obvious he would never be elite even then. His game is not sustainable week in week out. His I will hit the ball hard and if that doesn’t work I’ll hit it harder is always going to make for inconsistency.
Rublev has actually done well for himself though I feel

His last USO match being a 5 set loss to Dimitrov, seems odd in a way. Thiem at IW close 2nd.

Hurka at Wimbledon is less odd and more tragic.

What always gets me about Fed at the USO is he won 5 in a row then didn’t win another in the next 13 years

He choked 3 consecutive times is what happened and then his window closed. 2015 he bests anyone not named Novak and could say he was mentally shot again. 2017 & 2019 were possibilities but at that age bit much to ask.

Historically, Becker won 3 of his first 6 Wimbledon appearances and lost a Final. Then in his following 9 he lost 3 Finals and 2 Semis, never winning again.

just because he had match points doesn't mean automatically he choked...it means he lost a very close encounter that could have gone either way

The list may stay the same?
