"If I did (what Sinner did), I would have been suspended for 20 years"

Serena Williams on Jannik Sinner’s suspension:

"I've been put down so much, I don't want to bring anyone down. Tennis needs him.

If I did that (failed the tests), I would have gotten 20 years. Let's be honest. I would have gotten Grand Slams taken away from me.

Just weirdly and oddly, I can't help but think about Maria (Sharapova) all this time. I can't help but feel for her.”

This drama queen has no shame and love to exaggerate things and victimize herself in order to draw pity from her audience.
Apparently the default she suffered by overeacting and threatening the asian line judge against Clijsters in that USO match may have left some profound scare tissue and resentment in Serena's mind.
She seems to compare herself with Mr lance "EPO" Armstrong. There is no retroactivity in Tennis. No grand slams would have been lost.

@Winner Sinner do not even bother commenting unless you can explain how a licensed physio would ever massage someone with psoriasis bare handed after they’ve sustained an open cut on their bare finger. or how the one with psoriasis would knowingly allow it.

she is somewhat right. she at least would have been suspended until a trial occurred.
I don't know about Serena , if looks like she is becoming VICTIM again. I don't think she would be punished either.

But someone like Keys or Pegula would be.

Serena is very big name. The system protects her. In case of Sharapova, there was zero plausible deniability and on top of that there was Russia bias.

But someone like Serena , nope she is not getting banned on the basis of plausible deniability.

i can see that, frankly i don’t buy her story much either. but she also never outright failed doping test iirc.

Well, honestly, didn't she get some pretty light punishments for certain things during her career? I mean there are certain things that, had other players done them, likely would have been punished more severely than she was because she is "Serena Williams".

There is no grey area. If the matter had gone to CAS we would have a proper legal statement of his fault or negligence. But WADA pulled the case from CAS.
Yes wada is coward .

I would prefer this going to cas and then they can acquit sinner if they wish. But at least proper procedures would have been followed. Hate this so called settlement

Even with this argument you are suggesting that Williams and Sinner were both too big to be punished properly, which is not exactly an argument in Sinner's favour.

Top players are always going to be held to a different standard than middle of the road player or complete mugs. Without top players the sport loses revenue. So no. Nothing would have been different for Serena. Heck Agassi already told everyone in his book they slid his meth use under the rug. Why? Top guy and moneymaker for the sport. The ATP or WTA doesn’t want to lose a ton of money for years at a time LOL for some long suspensions. The ATP has already been suffering without sinner because now we got bums like Draper in the finals.

Without top players what do you got? Taylor Fritz and Medvedev slam finals. Oh yea. People are going to flock to see that GOAT match:rolleyes:

To claim that she received unfavorable treatment is absurd. Anybody else would have been banned for her on court misconduct. She got off with a slap on the wrist

Along with threatening to murder a line ump, she was caught cheating. Insisted that her coach was not signalling her. "I would never cheat. I have a daughter! How dare you?!" She just needs to just go away. Such an embarrassment.

Don't know why she is choosing to open her yap now and bullying the young Sinner.

Does this mean she cheated before she had a daughter? :p

The Sharapova bit is spot on. I think the authorities were offended for two reasons, first because Sharapova was still representing Russia and hadn't switched to representing the USA, and second because Sharapova told the public about her failed test (and how it happened, i.e. a drug that she had long been taking, i.e. meldonium, was put on the banned list on 1 January 2016 and she tested positive at the 2016 Australian Open) before the authorities said anything in public about the failed test.

Sharapova initially got a 2-year ban, reduced to 15 months on appeal. Sinner got a slap on the wrist, and then took a plea bargain that was perfectly timed to ensure that he doesn't miss a major.

And now everyone cheats as coaching is allowed so that demonstrates the absurdity of the complaint.

Sinner has got a good deal from authorities, so on that score Williams is correct.

The crip dancing, panic room hiding, cheating at U.S Open and then lying, and you owe me an apology, Serena...is such a hypocrite. She got zero days suspension for threatening the life of a tiny little lineswoman (Shino)...zero.
And really, you "feel" for Sugarpova?
Stop your lying girl. lol.

Serena did indeed lead a charmed life, just as Sinner is. Her gripes seem, however, to be larger than tennis.

Your use of "lying girl" indicates you just don't get it.

I "get it". I just don't buy whatever she's trying to sell. Someone who received very light consequences for her many many on court transgressions, and hopped in a panic room to avoid drug testing, should probably stay out of any ped discussions... if they're smart.
She's no victim. "20 years and loss of grand slams". Right.

Failed the tests, twice. Imagine only getting 3 months for that and no slams missed. This paid holiday is a disgrace.
The Tribunal ruled that Sinner was contaminated on Day One from the massage. That was the official Tribunal trial finding based on hearing all the evidence.
Not your gossip on TTW.

Imagine not being able to comprehend that failing the first test and then failing the second test eight days later is to be expected if the young Sinner had been contaminated on Day One.

The initial Tribunal was instituted according to a process ill-designed to achieve a fair and just outcome.

I would prefer if Federer would chime in, but Serena is pointing out that Sinner is no victim even though he tested positive ... twice.
