If it's a Murray vs Djokovic final, the crowd will win it for Andy

When people talk about the 2013 final, they always bring up the Del Po semi final as a reason for Novak being so poor and flat. But I think a big reason is the crowd. I think the crowd really nullified Djokovic, when he got in front it almost looked like he apologetically handed it straight back.

Yesterday's match with Serena and Watson, the crowd were going absolutely mad for Heather, and shouting out during points and cheering madly for Serena's errors. Serena is arguably the most mentally tough player of all time, and she was nearly beaten by that crowd. Djokovic, who has always been sensitive to crowds cheering for his opponents, it's one of his weaknesses. People always cheer for the underdogs but he just doesn't get it. Murray is the opposite. He thrives on crowds, whether they are for him or against.

I think if this is the final, as is predicted, despite the head to head and Novak having a 8 match streak against Andy, the crowd would play a big part. Thoughts?

Nah wishful thinking from you Murray fans. Djoko will have learnt from that wimby 2013 final. He would be determined to beat Murray here and do the Murray slam and get that 9th straight win! ;)

I'm a Djokovic and Murray fan actually. Love them both. I just worry that Novak won't be able to cope with the crowd. Hope I'm wrong. But my fave player, Stan the man, might have different ideas about who will win the tournament anyway!

Good comment. It's true Djoko has struggled at times when crowd been against him but I think he deals with it better than he used to. I don't think it will bother him as much. It all depends on the freshness of the guys. More the issue.

In a way it will be great for the players and tournament if we get Djokovic v Wawrinka and Murray v federer semi finals.
As both matches will be epic and tough so no player will get a free or easier pass pass and it would be a super Friday treat of tennis.

As a Nole fan and love Nole to get a bit lucky and avoid Stan but to be honest is better for legacy and more epic if he gets Stan and beats him in semi. However, if that happens I hope both fed and Murray get to semi so neither get a softer semi match haha :)

A shame there isn't a slam in Serbia. Would sure make things interesting as the crowd would be all for Djokovic.

Murray Djokovic finals are boring...No contrast in playing styles.

A test of stamina is what it ends up being...

Sometimes he deals well with the crowd, but sometimes he gets affected by it. It's frustrating to watch. I just wish he would ignore it, but I can see why it's hard. The crowd got to Serena yesterday, and she has a lot of mental resolve.

In terms of tennis, Stan vs Djokovic and Murray vs Fed would be ideal. Not only as a viewer, but also as a fan of all four guys. Stan vs Djokovic has become one of the most exciting match ups in tennis. It would be interesting to see how Novak coped with playing Stan. Grass should favour Novak, but mentally he collapsed in 2013 after the net touch incident. The U.S. Open 2013 third set choke was the saddest to see :( Hopefully he can recover mentally and we could get a good battle between him and Stanimal.

Slow down there, Roger is by no means out of the picture. He has yet to drop serve this tournament, an ominous sign of his good form!

At this stage, I can easily picture a re-run of last year's final between Roger and Novak with an outcome just as uncertain.

I agree he struggled a bit mentally in 2013 after that heart breaking SF loss to Nadal at French. However, Nole still made the final of Wimbledon and U.S. Open that year. Shows how strong he is as a champion, he still mentally tough overall and the talent he has. Plus I think he is mentally stronger now like he was in 2011. Think Becker has helped him there with vajda. As this is his best year of results to date so far since his awesome 2011. I just hope he backs it up getting another multi slam year. I a big Nole fan and hope he can covert more slam finals as wins and maybe match 2011 feat.

It's gonna be fascinating between him and Stan. As yes Nole dominates the H2H overall. However, since 2013 it's been such a close and intense rivalry in the slams. Djoko is 3-2 up in slams. Winning 2 5 setters at Oz and 1 5 setter at U.S. open. Stan won 1 5 setter in Oz and then French in 4 tough sets last month.

So there not much in it. I hoping Nole gets him back on grass but will be epic and depends on the form of both on day and who can handle the pressure more and who can return better.

Plus federer and Murray in awesome form too. They look destined to meet too. They have a close rivalry too. Then whoever gets through gonna be hard to call. All 4 are capable of winning Wimbledon. Think Djoko is slight fav but not counting my chickens as it close.

Plus we have the dark horses like Kygrios, Cilic, tsonga/karlo and berdych.

I was actually at the USO in 2010 when Djoker saved two MP's against Roger in the semis. The crowd was unbelievably pro-Fed, they were hysterically screaming and cheering for him. When you watch matches on TV, it's not the same as experiencing the adulation in person. Lots of people were cheering Djoker's errors and he was clearly ticked off. It was an adversarial crowd, no doubt.

But, we all know what happened. Nole went on to win the match, 7-5 in the fifth. So I can't imagine a Wimbledon crowd being as partisan as a New York crowd that worships Fed and is noisy, profane in your face. The Brits are way, way more restrained and reserved than a NY crowd.

Everyone thought in the 2012 Olympic final that the "crowd would get to Fed." Well, it was actually about a 60/40 split in crowd support. I realize Fed is vastly more popular than Nole, but I just don't see the crowd being that big of a factor. Djoker may lose the final to Muzz, but it won't be because of the crowd. Also, Djoker is #1 and a defending champion-- no excuse for a seasoned pro being thrown off their game by a potentially "hostile" crowd!

I just get the feeling if Andy and Roger meet that Andy will win. If Roger continues to play well, he has a good chance to win the tournament though for sure. A rematch of last year's wonderful final would be great.

If it is a Murray-Djokovic final I wont be watching.

Seriously, they have the most boring tennis matches EVER.

I am not saying Roger Federer will reach Andy Murray, as I am not quite sure how he will handle Berdych. Roger is playing really well as of now. He was returning really well today. I think Andy Murray will reach semi final. I can see Nick Kyrgios posing a very good threat for Novak Djokovic if they both reach semi final.

Nothing is guaranteed, still I tend to feel that Novak Djokovic will not reach final
