Seriously, after this year's Miami Open, I am starting to believe that Jakub Mensik is on great track to becoming unbeatable, even rivalling Jannik Sinner. In all my years of watching tennis, I don't think I recall seeing any tennis player who served so impeccably AND moved so well despite being so tall AND have such an unwavering endurance in rallies. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this guy moved faster than even the 2005-2009 versions of Rafael Nadal, and also had noticeably better stamina.
Mensik is not like a slow-moving servebot (like Ivo Karlovic) or a fast sprinter with weak serves (like De Minaur); he's got the total package. All of this was particularly evidence in his performance in this year's Miami Open finals. And you know what the scary part is? He is only 19 years old!!
Simply unbelievable. This guy will definitely finish his career with at least 15+ Grand Slam titles - I "only" say 15+, because he's got Jannik Sinner to compete with for the Slams, so those two may split some Slams.

With that being said, prime Roger Federer on grass is considered to be one of the most unbeatable versions of a tennis player ever. And especially at Wimbledon, he has won a record eight Wimbledon titles and made four additional finals, two of which he lost in super close 5 sets despite being past his prime.

Nevertheless, I do believe that a slightly older, more mature version (around 21-23 years old) of Jakub Mensik can beat prime Federer at Wimbledon, because his unparalleled serving performance, impeccable movement and absolutely top-tier endurance would give him a huge advantage on a fast and low bouncing surface like grass. If prime Federer keeps spamming his ultra powerful forehands in attempts to make winners, Mensik would counter all of them with ease until he outlasts Federer or Federer makes errors. I mean, even Nadal has outlasted prime Federer frequently. I don't see why Mensik cannot do it.
Moreover, in his entire career, Federer has never faced a player who served as amazingly as Mensik did in the Miami finals. Sampras? Roddick? Karlovic? Groth? Those are just watered down versions of Mensik.
So, what do you guys think? How many Wimbledon titles would Federer have won if Jakub Mensik were born in the same era as him?
In my opinion, I would say definitely far less than 8: somewhere around 2-4.

Here is how I would predict the Wimbledon match series, with both players being the same age:
2001 Federer vs 2025 Mensik - Mensik in 4 sets (Mensik serves and moves far better than Sampras, and yet, in 2001, Sampras still pushed Federer to super close five sets)
2002 Federer DNP, so a pass here.

2003 Federer vs 2027 Mensik - Federer in 5 sets (arguably the very best version of Federer at Wimbledon has a major chance of winning)
2004 Federer vs 2028 Mensik - Federer in 5 sets (same reasons as 2003)
2005 Federer vs 2029 Mensik - Mensik in 5 sets (imo, 2005 WB Federer < 2003-04 WB Federer. In 2005, Federer benefitted from very poor competition at Wimbledon and did not seem like he was challenged much)
2006 Federer vs 2030 Mensik - Mensik in tight straight sets (Federer nearly went 2 sets to 1 down against a baby version of Claydal, who is far inferior to even a 19 year old Mensik lol)
2007 Federer vs 2031 Mensik - Mensik in tight-ish straight sets (Federer was close to losing the match against a 21 year old Claydal LOL)
2008 Federer vs 2032 Mensik - Mensik in straightforward straight sets (Federer would've lost in straight sets to Claydal, had the rain delay not saved him. But Mensik would've been quick enough to finish the match before the rain)
2009 Federer vs 2033 Mensik - Mensik in straightforward straight sets (Federer nearly lost to Roddick LMAO. Roddick is a far inferior player to Mensik in every aspect)
2012 Federer vs 2036 Mensik - Mensik in tight-ish straight sets (Federer lost a set against Djokovic and even Murray LOL)
2014 Federer vs 2038 Mensik - Mensik in easy straight sets (Federer played one of the worst GS finals of his career here. Mensik would have a field day)
2015 Federer vs 2039 Mensik - Mensik in easy straight sets (same reason as 2014)
2017 Federer vs 2041 Mensik - Mensik in tight straight sets (Federer actually played extremely well throughout Wimbledon 2017, but still, it was below his 2003-2007 standards, so Mensik would have no major issues here)
2019 Federer vs 2043 Mensik - Mensik in easy straight sets, possibly with a bagel (Federer played one of the worst matches of his career here. Mensik yawns throughout the match)

First goes to 8-7 in the tiebreak, until peak Federer smiles and says, "I am not left handed", and promptly blasts a backhand down the line with his 98 Prostaff to take it, and sprints into winning the next 2 sets 4 and 4.

TTW comedy at its best. It is pretty obivious you have not seen FEDRER at his best playing at wimbeldon. .
If Mensik does something great in upcoming RG and WIM we can discuss again.

Such counterfactual thinking is absolutely pointless.
What if - can only interest someone who is bored.
Every normal working person rolls their eyes at such a childish fantasy.

Sounds just as reasonable as any other time travel predictions I've seen around here (mostly coming from fraudsters).

Yeah, how come he needed two tiebreaks to win! He could break a fading 37-year-old?

No, jakub mensik is not a true all-time great at all.

Guys, I absolutely take back everything I said in this thread which has now turned out to be utterly preposterous.
Like, this aged worse than milk...
Please forgive my lacklustre precognitive abilities.
This thread is in ruins now...

It's sad because it only just turned out to be utterly preposterous.

The evolution in tennis is so fast that Mensik's Miami win was lightyears ago, relatively speaking. The field caught up to him.
He never evolved either after that win. Agreed.
He still has some tools to work with and moves well. But consistency and point construction was a problem.

Austraila through Miami will be big for him or he’s dropping in the rankings.

If Jakub was his only competition, how about at least 15!
I think that 15 might be a bit too exaggerated.

I mean, let's see:
2003-2007, 2009, 2012, 2017 Wimbledons: Federer still wins.
2001 Wimbledon: Federer wins. Henman was redlining when he beat Federer in the QF and would've most likely gone to win the whole event if it hadn't been for the rain delay saving Ivanisevic's arse in the SF. Much better than the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2008 Wimbledon: Federer wins. Nadal was absolutely redlining in the final. FAR better than the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2010 Wimbledon: Federer wins. Berdych was redlining throughout the tournament. Much better than the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2011 Wimbledon: 50/50 chance. 2011 Wimbledon Tsonga wasn't that much better than the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2013 Wimbledon: loses. Fed would still lose to Stakhovsky before even getting the chance to meet Mensik.
2014 Wimbledon: Federer wins. Djokovic was absolutely redlining in the final. FAR better than the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2015 Wimbledon: Federer wins. Djokovic was absolutely redlining in the final. FAR better than the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2016 Wimbledon: loses. 2016 Wimbledon Raonic was worse than the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2018 Wimbledon: loses. 2018 Wimbledon Anderson was roughly as good as the Miami 2025 Mensik.
2019 Wimbledon: 50/50 chance. 2019 Wimbledon Djokovic wasn't that much better than the Miami 2025 Mensik.

Overall, around 5-7 additional Wimbledon titles for Federer if Mensik was his toughest competition, and Djokodal were out of the picture.
13-15 titles seems likely :)

Mensik's forehand is slightly better than Benoit Paire's, slightly worse than Zverev's...
OK, I know that this whole thread was a joke from me, but it is incredibly obvious to anyone with two eyes and a brain that Miami 2025 Mensik >>> any version of Zverev ever. Like, it's not even close.

LOL, love the way the bots keep hyping up Djoker's competition. Mensik is nowhere to be seen since that M1000 victory.
