If Novak and Nadal dominate in 2020, one of them will reach 20

He is good.
But players are starting to study his game and he is starting to carry expectation as a high seed. Let's see if he can remain at this summer's level.

Medvedev has tremendous adaptability. A very unique game. Look at his results. He is not even sweating against most of the ATP (bar the ATGs).
He has this quality of making you play bad. He has so many weapons and changes strategy all the time.
Plus he is going to get bigger, stronger, faster and just flat out better. Imagine him with a bigger serve, 5-10 mph more on groundies, more stamina, more experience, more explosiveness.
OMG. He would be impossible to beat.

But he is Russian.
Despite the large pool of tennis talent, has there been a Russian ATG?

Never say never. There could always be a Russian ATG. There was no Serbian ATG before the great Novak Djokovic became the legend he is. (and he might become the GOAT - imagine that).
Anyway, I have this feeling about Medvedev. I haven't seen such a crafty player since Pete Sampras almost.
I'd be shocked if Medvedev wasn't a future #1 and a multi slam winner. Injury could derail him I suppose. But other than that, he is just too good.

I think it will be:

Novak 19 Nadal 19 Medvedev 1

I really feel that Medvedev will win AT LEAST one slam in 2020 and 2 or more in 2021. He is THAT good.
Not been MORE excited about a young player for a LONG LONG Time.

Right now, the biggest thing standing between Novak and GOAThood is NOT Fed or Nadal. It is Medvedev.
So, you have Joker winning 3 straight slems, with 1 of them being RG where he has not made a final in 3 years  He's also lost to Timmy (who has been pasted by RAFA in back to back to back years) in 2 of the last 3 years.

We could also have Djokovic 18 Nadal 19 Thiem 1 Medvedev 1.

Nadal seems like a wildcard to me. His fitness looks suspect. Next year a fresh Thiem + a peaking Djokovic would be a challenge at the F.O.

LOL at Djokovic fans still trying to connect Nadal and Djokovic at the hip.

Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have won the last 12 slams. Federer/Nadal won the first 6, and Djokovic/Nadal won the last six. The common factor is Nadal.

No matter where the numbers end up, these 3 players (Fedalovic) are inextricably linked and will be for all time! Their separate rivalries are enough to make them elite legends, but their tournament results are even more unmatched; ALL OF THEM! Trying to separate Nadal is easy when you compare him to Fedovic and their level of consistency over the years on all surfaces! Nadal hasn't done as well off the clay surface; no shame in it, but that doesn't make him as complete a player as the other 2! If I were you, I'd work hard to include Nadal, not set him apart!

How? Out of all the Big 3 he was the healthiest going into the USO. His slow start this year was more due to his ankle surgery from last year. He won't have that issue next year.

Timmy has lost to RAFA 3 years in a row at RG, that's not changing any time soon. Joker hasn't made the finals at RG since winning in 2016 and we all saw how well he did against RAFA this year at Rome. And Sheet matches up much better with Joker. If anything, he's taking slems from him.

I'm talking about the last 3 years. Federer and Nadal won the first six slams, and Djokovic and Nadal won the last six slams. That's what separates Rafa: he won a slam each year, and it's why he's three over Nole, and within one of Roger.

Well another way to look at it is "Fedal" could have really separated themselves from Djokovic while he was "on the shelf," then injured from the end of 2016 until the summer of '18! From there he's been allowed to take 4 of the last 6 majors which keeps Nole in the running to overtake Fedal in the record they will fork over within the next couple years! Rafa had his chances on grass (W '18 SF) and HC (AO '19 F) and Roger's still trying to get over blowing 2 MP at Wimbledon allowing Nole to steal yet another major off his resume! That's just another way to interpret what's going on in TENNIS!

If the two sweep the slams next year Nadal 20 - Djoker 19 will be the most likely option with Nadal 21 Djoker 18 being the second most likely option.

Joker won't win 3 slams next year, be serious.
And Nadal can win at least 1 Major with a good chance of winning 2.
:)

That would mean equalling the record of consecutive slams won by two players (11 by Federer and Nadal from RG05 to UO07).

Nadal has two years left to win Slams.
To Djokovic, three.
:)
The Mad Lad (and Thiem on clay) may reduce the flow to something more appropriate for such venerable players. Mad Lad has been the number one player since Wimbledon and his lead over Nadal should widen considerably:
1 Daniil Medvedev 23 3350
2 Rafael Nadal 33 3000
3 Andrey Rublev 21 795
4 David Goffin 28 790
5 Matteo Berrettini 23 775
6 Gael Monfils 33 775
7 Grigor Dimitrov 28 760
8 Diego Schwartzman 27 745
9 Nikoloz Basilashvili 27 735
10 Albert Ramos-Vinolas 31 664
11 Nick Kyrgios 24 645
12 Richard Gasquet 33 570
13 Alexander Zverev 22 550
14 Alex de Minaur 20 550
15 Novak Djokovic 32 540
16 Dominic Thiem 26 530
17 Pablo Carreno Busta 28 507
18 John Isner 34 475
19 Karen Khachanov 23 460
20 Roger Federer 38 450

They have won the last 7 GS, Novak 4, Nadal 3.
If they continue to dominate GS in 2020, at least one of them will reach 20. Possible scenarios:
Novak 20, Nadal 19
Novak 19, Nadal 20
Novak 18, Nadal 21
Novak 17, Nadal 22
Novak 16, Nadal 23

However, I think one of the younger guys will step up to win 1 GS. Novak 18 and Nadal 20 would be my guess.

It is now time to think about 2021. Can Novak and Nadal still dominate?
My guess: Novak 19, Nadal 21.

Nadal is a contender at every slam.
There is no limit to how many he can win in 2021.
