If Novak didnt injure himself, he would have lost

Wesling

Semi-Pro
When novak gets injured, he starts blasting and unloading his FH and BH. Its his plan B but not something he prefers. It worked today, but it was a bit lucky. If he didnt injure himself he would have lost imo, rallyes with carlos isnt something he Will win with his declined movement. Agree?

He should commit to it as his plan A tbh. We’ve seen enough tournaments now to know he can do it well and he will get crushed if Sinner is healthy unless he nukes the ball off both wings

He’s not injured. At his age, and at any age but even more so at his, there is always something wrong.
he just knows when to ham it up and everyone falls for it.
This is just stupid. Who in their right mind would give away the first set as a trade for playing mind games? Never mind, that replay showed the exact moment of injury, and then Djokovic’s movement was hampered, and he grimaced the rest of the first set (imagine the mental energy it takes up to fake this in the most mentally demanding sport). Then Djokovic adapted an aggressive style of play in the second set to minimize his running until the meds kicked in and the pain went away. Only haters on this forum think, “I got to 4-4 in the first set and now I'm going to give it away on purpose because that’s more advantageous.”

The problem with these "injuries", which always come when behind, is always the other player, who can well lose his rhythm by the disturbation. It got into Alcaraz head. Certainly it should not, the players should know what to expect. after all those incidents.

Tbh when I played competetive tennis, longer breaks intentionaly caused my opponent, bothered me a lot as well. I feel bad for Carlos.

Djokovic is already trying to get into Zverevs head and playing mind games. In the post match interview, he said something, like that they had made an agreement, that Zverev lets him win in the slam events. Zverev should remain calm and not distracted.

Except Djokovic was not behind in the score when this injury occurred.

Zverev may be a head case, but if this joke bothers him or any other player enough to impact their game significantly, they shouldn't be playing tennis.

Yeah he seems to have lost any edge he had. Starting to sound like he thinks he already made it to the top, which he did, but now he might be crumbling his way down.
Thats premature BUT Alcaraz needs to be very careful at this stage in his career. Money being thrown at him, hangers on multiplying telling him he is God, women throwing themselves at him, there is going to be alot of distractions off court. The big 4 all had one constant...childhood sweethearts with them throughout their entire career.

True, it has only been 6 months since winning a slam. That said, not a lot of winning over the past 6 months.

Djokovic is a lot like Nadal in this respect. Will do anything to win, including repeated gamesmanship, time wasting, MTOs, etc.
Fed’s not innocent in that regard either though. Tbf he didn’t do it nearly as often, but he absolutely did take strategic MTOs and bathroom breaks in his career. Joker’s just the worst offender in that regard.

Wallovic is a bad match up for Aggessaraz on hard courts.

No. Alcaraz clearly had the edge on The Djoker in the rallies. It was very painful to watch. Alcaraz always dictated the points. Huge power. Djoker counterpunched defensively.
The Djoker miraculously got by on clutch serving (including high risk second serves) and conducting a Master Class on returning serve.
Excitement!

How many slams had the other 3 won by his age? All 3 of them less than him right?

Can't believe people on this forum are getting carried away, who'd have thought?

Think he's still got a lot of development to do ultimately still quite raw even if a brilliant player already.

And I think he is clearly better on clay and grass than hard court.

The guy is smart enough to know what works, and what doesn't!
but djokovic really milks it. if Rafa was never injured he’d have 30 slams but if djokovic was never injured he’d prob have 16 or 17 lol
Nadal won none post-'11 AO & WB with healthy/present Djokovic, because '22 AO was when Djokovic was kicked off Australia. But he did win three US, which, considering his H/C prowess, was more than he deserved!

He is young he will win plenty of slams and masters
Sinner winning here i think is a worse case scenario for him. Shelton winning 2nd worse. Zverev winning i dont think makes any difference. Djokovic obviously not a major issue for him career wise in the long term. If Sinner wins this event i think he could really derail Carlos as Sinner will go up a level confidence wise i feel.
