What are you talking about? No one gives a **** where he’s from. Most people who don’t follow tennis as closely as we do don’t even know where he’s from. His issue is not his nationality.

Both Roddick and Novak were assholes to each other (saying this as a fan of both—I don’t love myself apparently).
Anyway, I wish certain Nole fans would get off this “people hate him because he’s from Serbia” nonsense. It’s patently untrue and the proof is that Ivanovic was well-liked and missed to this day. People, especially in the US, can’t even show you where certain states are. They have no clue what a Serbia is, other than some country. The truth is that most fan were Team Fed or Team Rafa and he crashed the party. His family also contributed by being loud messes and that just irritated a lot of people and Opinion of him never recovered. It’s not hard to fathom and I don’t know why we continue to have these threads. People just won’t like him and that’s ok. What I don’t like is Fedal fan hypocrisy but that’s a whole other thread.

I know one thing would make Djokovic popular instantly: he and Federer appear to be best of buddies, practicing, lunching, having a beer together. Afterwards, Nole would be applauded in every tennis arena in the world, almost half as much as Fed.

totally agree. and the media has been obsessed with Fed making it worse. media today is more like propaganda than media. People don't have a problem with Ivanovic/Navratilova/Li Na because they are women, which generally don't pose major threat and easily play victim cards.

Ivanovic is Miss World material and a one slam wonder and there wasn't any equivalent cult like Fedal in WTA.

Don't take everything so seriously, we all have different fav players, I was a Nadal fan long before I knew Djokovic existed. As Rafa's direct competition of course I can't root for him, it doesn't mean I don't know how GREAT Djokovic is. And he IS great.
