If Novak had not lost to Stan, Nadal would have been mincemeat

If Novak had not lost to Stan in the QF, are there any doubts that Nadal would have been mincemeat in the finals ?

On the contrary, assuming a hypothetical final of Fed vs Novak, Fed would have probably come closer or recreated the FO 2011 magic.

I agree. In these quicker conditions and Nole's history at the AO, he would've got it done in 4 I believe.

But he did lose to Stan so your comment is irrelevent. As it is Djokovic wasn't good enough to get to the final this year. Nadal hasn't gotten there either yet. Unlike most Federer fans I still have faith in Roger!

While this post is true, it is equally true that if I would have been magically transported to Melbourne and found myself at the AO Finals, I too, could have beaten Rafa or Fed.

What makes you assume that the quicker conditions didn't hurt Djokovic? Nadal I actually think prefers quicker conditions against many players. Only those that serve big and also hit with heavy spin would maybe prefer quicker conditions. Dimitrov an example of that. But Nadal's spin is usually more effective when the ball is flying.

That's one POV. Another POV is that Nadal isn't able to bring as many balls back as he would if the court was receptive to his defensive play. I think Novak prefers if Nadal retrieves less over Nadal's spinners, he can deal with that just fine and it's not gonna be as bad as clay anyway. Not saying I'm right but that's just how I feel about their matches from what I've seen.

With Nadal's blister hand, probably. Nadal's hand is so bad that even Federer stands a chance of beating Nadal. Perhaps even Wawrinka. Swiss Roll and Monsieur Gruyere might have stood a chance, so of course Djokovic would too.

Djokovic played the exact same player last year with nearly similar results except this time he came out on the losing end. If the conditions really hurt him, wouldn't he have lost much more convincingly?

The conditioners were a neutralizer imo. Thus, the match was going to be tight if Wawrinka played well. More pressure on Djokovic to hold serve as breaking would be tough.

Lol Nadal's blister also came at a wrong time. If he didn't have this blister then he would have been a co Fav for this tournament.

Images of aunts and uncles, candy and nuts, come to mind, as well as the phrase "woudda, coudda, shoudda." I actually agree with the premise, but it's irrelevant, because he DID lose to Stan.

Nadal playing his absolute best wouldn't have a chance against Djokovic here. We've already seen that in 2012.

Nadal most certainly did not play his best tennis in the 2012 Australian Open final, not even close, and he was still very close to winning and in fact should have won vs an extremely in form Djokovic.

Nadal was in superhuman form in that tournament, he just got beat by a better player. Moving on , nothing to see here.
