If Novak loses in the U.S. Open final...

....he will have the record for most Grand Slam match wins in one season in the open era but only won 1 Grand Slam.

He will have won 24 Grand Slam matches.

2nd Best is Nadal in 2011 with 23 Grand Slam matches won, but only won 1 Grand Slam.

For perspective, the most grand slam matches ever won in a season by Sampras and Agassi was 23. Sampras won 23 in 1993 and Agassi in 1999.

He'd be sharing it with Federer I think? 1 win, 2 finals and a semi final is the same as Roger had in 2008 :)

What about Federer? Surely he has way more than that. In 2006 he got into all 4 finals and losing one of them, making it 27 match wins. Same for 2007 as well.

Or is OP talking about only getting one slam win?

yea, most GS matches won in a season but only 1 major won

Apart from Djokovic this year (potentially) and Federer this year (potentially), there's also Federer in 2008, Nadal in 2011

LOL, interest or rather very obscure. Not sure anyone would be proud of this record.

You really have a supercomputer for a brain, OP, and does weird things with spare CPU cycles :D
