If one player wins the match but wins less point, who's the best player!?

I don't know. If Boxer A throws 40 punches in round one, and lands 35, but gets knocked unconscious by Boxer B, who only throws one punch... who won the fight?

The better player is the one who wins the important points. And no point is more important than the last one. That's the only point you really have to win, you know. :)

Wel, is it?
I think every point is actually the same.

That's the way you should play, but aside from that, wouldn't you say 5-5 in the 3rd set tiebreaker is a more important point than the first one of the match?

Forgive me for been cynical but is this not a situation where if a player wins a match by shortening the points, hitting more aces, or been a grinder who never makes an error and annoys the shotmaking opponent, then the opponent can say I was the better player because I won more points during the course of the match?

Thats why tennis is such a mental game. Its who wins the points at the crucial moments when psychology comes into play who triumphs. Just like any other one on one individual sport.

This reminds me of players who are awesome in practice but completely change (e.g. conservative play, errors galore, indecisive, etc.) when they play matches. Most of the time, the person who wins the match is the better player.

Maybe we can see why they keep score and determine a winner and loser in each match played. The term "winner" may give you a clue as to who is the best player (taht match).

If a player wins fewer points and wins the match, he would be playing more efficiently, right? The other player may actually win more points, but they didn't count for anything because he lost the match - very inefficient.

After all there are situations when a point isn't worthy to battle for. Say an opponent leads 40:0 and u don't have an energy at all and u want to keep it for the next game/set, whatever. U may lose a lot of energy to make it 40:30 and after an ace of an opponent again lose the game.

The one who won the match of course, sorry that I won't develop on it, I feel too lazy for the moment.
