Skechers Performance are putting out some fantastic running shoes too. I was sceptical at first but I've been extremely impressed. They're still as ugly as sin, but they feel great and perform really well.

Just ordered a pair of NB 786v2 in 4E. Will see if they are wider than the 696v3 2E that I am wearing (have to use thin socks). If these aren't wide enough I'm going to return them and try the 806 4E, my last hope.

I just grabbed a new pair of $17 Costco 8-BKirkland from my closet. That would only leaves about 8 pair left ... lol.

In a related “cheap” tennis gear, I had to find a replacement to my thick pair of BCG socks ... Academy Sports no longer carries them. Doesn’t look like they make them anymore. They were a great replacement for Thorlo ... and 6-8 pair for price of one pair of Thorlo. I prefer one thick pair to two thin pair. Took a blind shot with 10 pair of Journow thick sports socks for $18 ... lol. They showed up yesterday and were perfect thickness (pretty similar to Thorlo and BCG) for Kirklands. Feel comfortable... will have to see how they wear. Who cares at $1.80 a pair ... could wear them for one match. :-D

Barricade Classic 4E are on clearance at TW.
I'm going to give it a shot. Not too hopeful from the reviews, but there is free return shipping.

The Barricades were too narrow at the front so they went back. Shame since it was on sale.
I tried to post a review on TW, but it hasn't shown up...

Try the 1006 next. Some have mentioned it is wider, than the 806 and others have said the opposite. Seems to be variances in manufacturing.

At least, due to the mesh upper, the 1006 will stretch the longer you wear it.

I think the leather upper in the 806 is more likely to conform to my foot without losing support, so that is why I wasn't really looking at the 1006, but it is also an option if the 806 isn't wide enough.

Have you played in mesh uppers? I did forever with NB, never a support problem ... just a ugly sweat problem in summer. Looks new for about 2 weeks.

I have some mesh upper NB running shoes, but have never played tennis in them. They don't seem to have as much lateral support as even synthetic leather uppers. But if the other shoes don't work out I will give the 1006 a try.

No ... that’s a different thing, running shoes are no good for tennis because of the lateral support you mentioned. I just meant the NB mesh tennis shoes (not running) I have used for decades always had enough support.

Wore both the 800 series leather and the 1000 series mesh. Those mesh shoes may breathe but end up like slippers by end of the summer,

Got the 786v2 4E yesterday, played in them for about an hour this morning. Fit better than 696v3 2E. I ordered an 11 instead of a 10.5, glad I did. They feel pretty comfortable. Will put them through more rigorous playing soon and see how they feel after a few more days.

Just picked up a pair of 1006 4E at the biggest online retailer. Very surprised to see a text under the price saying "Save an extra $26.24 at checkout." Essentially 25% off.
Had gift card balance to burn otherwise I would've hit up TW customer service to inquire about the low price guarantee.

This thread is for 4E or extra wide shoes. It looks like the Adidas SoleCourt Boost are just slightly wide. So somewhere between a normal and wide, towards the later.
They are also $140 a pair!

Have 3 more hours on these shoes. Feeling fine, roomy enough for medium thickness socks, so I am happy and would buy another pair of these shoes (assuming they don't have issues with the sole wearing too easily). Again, I bought a size 11, where normally I buy 10.5. Matched it up against an older pair of NB shoes in 10.5 4E and they seemed to be about the same length and width.

Does the 786v2 have a bit of mesh in the upper? May stretch a bit in time,

The 786v2 has some mesh in the forefoot area, mostly in the outer side, not so much on the inner side. Note sure how much potential stretch there is.

Still happy with my 786v2 in 4E. Sole is getting worn down, but that is normal wear and tear. I also got a 4E 696v3. They fit okay, but not as comfortable as the 786v2. The 786 is probably worth the extra cost.
