Evidence that can break this week's logic at once is why Nadal couldn't reach the hard coat grand slam final in 05~ 08.
after nadal won 05 RG , nadal beaten by gonzalz , tsonga , james blake , david ferrer , andy murray

fed beat them all beside ferrer in grand slam
anyway , still myth that nadal hasn 't reached hard court slam final in 05 wimbledon ~ 2008 us open

I've heard enough of the excuse that Nadal's hard court game didn't develop at that time.

I want to hear another reason

nadal didn't care about them weak era HC slams, only started to care when the weak era ended because they were worth more

he only won the occasional HC masters to prove that he can do it but as I said he didn't care

Nadal's game peaked at different times on different surfaces. He was still learning how to get the best out of his hardcourt game, wheras he was already at slam winning level on clay and very close on grass. Nadal was a prodigy, but he was still a young player who had to mature to become complete on all surfaces.

It's not complicated. Had 2009-2010 "HardDal" been ready in 2004-2007, it probably would have cost Federer quite a few hardcourt slams.

You can call every reason an excuse, if you don't like it. And demand a reason that you would like.
Many players need time to adjust to a surface.

Nadal didn’t learn how to play off clay until 2008 when the strong era started. At AO he was blitzed off the court by Tsonga and 2008 lost to fellow ATG Murray. He was tired after his run from clay season to winning Canada.

His game hadn't yet matured on the surface, but at least there were guys who could prevent him from winning HC slams, so this shows that the field on HC has always been strong.

HC tennis didn't come to Nadal naturally, so he needed time to figure it out. In '08, he was all of 21!

Very similar to Djokovic and grass. But it took Djokovic even longer to learn grass, probably because it's the least used surface, by far!

If you can't accept the perfectly reasonable explanation that Nadal's HC game was simply not good enough in that period, I dunno what to tell you.

Embryo Nadal beat un-evolved Federer a couple of times on HC back in the days when no one could play tennis.
Babydal was lucky he could hit more than two shots in a row, while unlucky pre-post-peak old baby Fedr beat himself and choked from 0-0 sets up to lose in straight sets in Miami.

Call the police, there has been a robbery!

He had already established some HC credentials as far back as the 2005 Miami final when he almost (and probably should have) beat Federer. Then in 2006 he shocked Federer again by beating him in the Dubai final and won IW in 2007 (beating Djokovic). 2008 was like his real break out year on other surfaces though with his win over Djokovic in the final of Queen's, Federer in the Wimbledon final and then winning Canada and the Olympics (beating Djokovic again along the way). At 2008 US Open he ran into a peaking young Murray but, 4 months later, completely cemented his HC arrival by beating Federer (again) in the final of AO.

It's all a matter of patience and preparation.
