If WTA wants Equal prize $ they should play five sets QF on

If they want equal prize money as the men, the WTA women should play best 3 out of 5 sets from Grand slam QF to the finals. This would show women can do what men do, to some degree, and it would make the matches more interesting and dramatic.

Why doesn't Billie Jean King ever step up and try to get this done? You want equal prize money, earn it.

Yup, matches such as Bartoli - Zvonareva or Williams - Safina going an extra set, or even the full distance are really something to look forward to... 6-1 0-6 6-0 2-6 whatever score you fancy in the last set. With more breaks than holds, plenty of double-faults, plenty of unforced errors, it'd be a thrill a minute!

I watched the Safina - Williams final for all of three games, as soon as it became evident Safina just could not serve her way out of a paperbag I went to bed.

I agree that women's tennis currently leaves much more to be desired. Plain and simple, I rather watch college men's tennis.

Making them play best out of 5 sets would just make it worst; excruciating as someone mentioned above.

Perhaps they need to find other ways to make it more fair for men because lets face it, women managed an average of 70 minutes on court during the Australian Open while men played single sets that lasted longer than that.

The only solutions I can see are either give the men more money, or push women back to whatever they used to receive :twisted:

That's just plain stupid. Women are women. Men are men. Other sports recognize this. Why don't you>? The grand slams are 4 per year. To accurately assess the value of your point (which is that tennis players should be paid by the hour ), we need to count up the actual hours played by all the men and all the woman in all the tournaments and get the average time per match to see whether it's men or women who actually play the more hours per match. If you really want equality, you will do what it takes to get that information in order to test your own conclusion. The French put it this way, rallyjunkle: "Vive la difference!":lol:

Yes I agree. The Equal prizemoney issue is a farce right now. When was the last time we saw a classic women's final in the Grand Slams?! Any more one-sided Grand Slam finals as bad as Safina vs Serena Williams (59 minutes) then the ITF and Grand Slam associations should show some balls (pardon the pun) and do something about it.
