In the final,
More money, more recognition
Ditto. I know supposedly people never remember who came in second, but their gonna remember runner-up vs. early-roung-guy/girl. I see your point, it would be frustrating to come so close, but hey I want RU bucks over early exit money any day. Plus, all you would talk about when I'm gonna make the big breakthrough:)

For some reason I thought the question was gonna be "If you are not going to win a slam would you rather... win a Masters 1000 or the WTF?" Anyway I'd much rather lose in the final. Means you almost won and you get some pictures taken lol

Think of a Baghdatis vs Verdasco.

Baghy will always be remembered for that great run.

Uh, is this a trick question? What am I missing here?
Not a trick question I wanted other opinions because in the mental strength thread Azzuri or whatever his name is some how saying that federer should be ashamed because he has lost in 6 slam finals and pete only lost in 4...i would rather make a more finals overall so maybe this question is for him....

Finals records say little about mental strength. Losing in the final is almost always better than losing before the finals, the exception being if you drew the eventual winner before the finals and pushed him further than anybody else.

I can see that. but pushing the eventual champ is iffy only because someone could really be challenged in the second round becuase they are kind of still playing themself into form . overall i respect consistency and consistency in results. Andy roddick might only have one slam but he has made slam finals and semis and even when he has been completely blown away he is still there in contention. you still have to be mentioned and that's the difference to me

I know this question shouldn't be address since anyone in their right mind should say slam final >>>>>>>>>> early round. But for some crazy folks in here preferred losing in the early round since losing slam finals hurts their legacy. Weird logic!!!
