If you could change the outcome of one match

For Djokovic either us open 2012 or 2013. He needed to win at least on more more major in that 2012-2013 seasons to have any shot at 17 IMO. Needed to be at least on 13 right now.
He played so many on fire great players to get to those finals bittersweet not converting the last match for such a great HC player.
For Fed: US Open 2009.
Nadal: AO 2014. Djokovic taken out in QF missed op.
Murray: AO 2015.

Going "old school" with 1981 Wimbledon final; the beginning of the end for Borg! If he had held his title for a 6th year, he might not have retired so abruptly at the end of the season in Jan.! IMO McEnroe shouldn't have even been there; throwing a monumental hissy fit in an early round match! They allowed him to continue when anyone else would have been disqualified calling the umpire a "bald eagle!" I lost some respect for them when they talk about being "above reproach" in matters concerning the tournament! ;) :p

You cannot be serious! You want John MacEnroe disqualified for being John MacEnroe. And you take offense to a brilliant quip like that? You want to stop one of the greatest rivalry rematches of all time from taking place because of that? How much of a fuddy duddy, wet blanket can you be? Shame on you. I am going to watch clips of Jmac having fits and cheer him on for not holding anything back. A true American hero. Will Farell owes his career to him.

Roddick vs Federer 09' Wimbledon
or Fish vs Federer in Cincy 10' (Fish played great and it would have been awesome if he had a masters!)

A couple......

RG 2009 - Simply have Nadal reach final and Federer beat him instead of Soderling.
Wimbo 2009 - Roddick deserved a Wimbo, yes NOW Fed is one of my favs but I like to see the 'underdog' win the big one.......
US Open 2010 - Beat Djokovic in SF then Rafa in final, stop Rafa from winning career slam (Rafa gets it in 2013)
Wimbledon 2012 - Murray beats Federer (Fed is my current 2nd fav, Murray 1st). Murray should have gone 2 sets up in that match and then would have GS final victory over a near prime Federer instead of being 0-3.
Olympics 2012 - Trade off for the Wimbo final, gives Federer the career Golden slam for singles.
Oz Open 2016 - Murray finally beats Novak at Oz Open, with Wimbo 2012 added he would have 5 majors

The Rosol match started Rafa'a now unstoppable decline and utter loss of all confidence. Rafa should have won that match.

If I could only pick one, it would probably be the 2009 Wimbledon final. I loved Andy as a player, and was crushed when he lost. I thought he would pull that one out. Although, going into it I think the one I thought Andy would get crushed, when he broke back for 5-5 all in the first set and then took the first without going into a tiebreak, I thought he had it.

Other matches I would like to see changed include:

1984 French Open final - Johnny Mac just let it slip away
1977 Wimbledon final - I am a huge Connors fan. I think if he hadn't had a broken right thumb he would have won it, but this one match changed the Connors-Borg rivalry dramatically.
1975 and 1977 U.S. Open finals - again, would like to have seen Connors won.

for the women:

1985 Wimbledon - Chris almost had it against Martina; she never could be her in finals there.
1984 U.S. Open - thought Chris would finally break through; she almost had it.
1973 French Open final - would liked to have seen Chris beat Court

Berdy vs Zverev third round Wimby 2016

The draw was so open for young Sascha after that, he could have made a quarter or possibly even semi final at age 19.

I'm surprised that a big Zverev fan could go with anything other than this year's IW match w/ Nadal... at least at this early stage of his career. He was owning. That would've been an enormous statement... was right there, too.

Shanghai 2012.
If Murray converted one of those match points, beating djokovic in Olympics, US Open & Shanghai back to back, i think the rivalry would look very different today.

Yeah, that's a good one too. I had real expectations for him at Wimby, and the draw after Berdych was clear, so I guess I was more disappointed with that.

1996 French Open Round of 16, with Muster vs. Stich. Stich won 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6.

Muster was up a set and a break at 6-4, 3-2, but then suddenly had several bad points in a row. Muster then lost crucial long games and points late in the second set and early in the third set, and Muster also led 3-0, 4-1 and 5-2 in the fourth set.

2006 Rome assuming everything around changes as well.

2008 Wimbledon or 2009 Wimbledon if wer'e talking about 1 match.

Future Trunks went back in time to change the outcome of something, and the consequences were felt when Goku Black came as a result of that, and destroyed his world.

Sometimes its best to leave things as they are...

Of course the match in 1993 Hamburg when Seles was stabbed.
I was thinking of a couple of matches, then I read this. my choices then seemed irrelevant.
So 100% the Seles/Maleeva match.

My 2nd choice would be Evert/ Navratilova AO Final 1985. Had Evert won, she would have ended the year at no.1, as she had been for a great part of the year.

3rd. Henman. Wimbledon sf v Hewitt

For Nadal (in order):
  1. AO 2012
  2. USO 2011 / Wimbledon 2011
  3. AO 2014 / Wimbledon 2007
  4. WTF 2010 / WTF 2013
  5. Miami 2011
  6. AO 2008
For Federer:
  1. Wimbledon 2014 / Wimbledon 2015 / USO 2015
  2. USO 2011
  3. AO 2008
For Roddick:
  1. Wimbledon 2004 / Wimbledon 2009

2009 USO.

I know it's hard to assume but if Roger holds at AO that's his Fed Slam plus 6 consecutive US Opens AND I think that may help him with his two choke jobs back to back to Novak. Maybe we get a Fedal final there.

Yes Roddick definitely deserved a Wimbledon title.

I also know it is hard to say Nadal doesnt deserve 2 when he reached 5 finals, but seeing his abysmal string of losses on grass starting on 2012 when he was in his prime up until mid 2014, being a 1 time only Wimbledon winner might make more sense for him too. Then again he is 3-0 vs Murray at Wimbledon who is now a 2 time winner, so not sure.

Which match would you choose? This match won't alter the course of history so just one match.
I'd either go for the 2007/2011 Wimbledon finals or the 2012 AO one. I think I'd go for the AO as it would have given Rafa a double career grand slam. What would you choose?
If Nadal tanked more games at the FO08 final, perhaps Lady Federlina would have kept better composure after losing AO final following year.

1980 USO final is another one. Had Borg won that match, he would've probably traveled to Australia in December in order to win a Calendar Slam and probably remain an undisputed Open Era GOAT (although Federer would've matched him later and arguably surpass him in 2012).

Borg with 13 slams would be the GOAT. CYGS on all surfaces to cap it off.

It's just a speculation, but I think that he would've won more than 13 Majors - at least 14, cause nobody would've stopped him at RG 1981. That would be a solid case for the Open Era (it's really hard to compare him with the pre-open era players) GOAT imo.

Update: Although I think that Fed would still have his arguments for that status, the difference between these two would've been much smaller than it's today.

You are right. He probably would be. Especialy since with the extra confidence of the CYGS in 1980 it is probably unlikely he doesnt win ateast 1 of the Wimbledon or U.S Open finals vs McEnroe next year, even with as good as McEnroe was. And probably continues past 1981 too.

So he would have been the Open Era GOAT, and now most even see him behind Nadal and Sampras.

For me he is Top 3

Lol, if you had your way, poor Novak wouldn't be left with many trophies in his cabinet would he? ;)
