If you could go back in time and stock up...

If you could go back in time and stock up on a discontinued shoe model, what would you buy? For me it's the original ASICS Court FF...wish I would have bought 2 dozen pair of them.

I liked the K-Swiss Bigshot 2.0 and 2.5. And of course Adidas Batricade. Pretty much any model up to 8.0. I have 50+ pair of these shoes, paying an average of $40 per pair, shipped. Shoes used to be cheap on close out

My first reaction was this I really liked those shoes. I am very happy in Diadoras now though

Easy. I would stock up on the Air Tech Challenge 2s, 3s, and 4s.

I'd also snag the Michael Chang Reebok Pumps.

But on a serious note...if I could go back in time. Buying shoes would be like the last thing that I would do.
Recall our Nike Outlet Store could not give away those Agassi Grass Court Challenge Court shoes. $8 pr. and did not move.

what advantages or other distinctions did this shoe have which the second and third generation did not have?
They completely remade the shoe for Novak to make it like an Adidas - so they added tons of plastic and its fit was much less forgiving and they raised the price and had it endorsed by Novak - all of which made it a straight no for me

this was solely due to the hardening of the upper right? The actual last and footbed did not change in shape though right?
Not sure - a friend of mine who wore the original switched to the 2 when it came out and adjusted to it fine although he also prefers the original

Nike Courtballistec 1.3 or the Yonex Power Cushion SHT 306. Not sure if I had great foot comfort or I just remember winning some big matches in them o_O

Barricade 7 or Air Max Cages

The Barricade 7 was just a beast of a shoe and lasted me forever compared to any other shoe. I’ll still pick it up if I find a pair in good condition. Loved the comfort and the slickness and weight of the original Cages. Too bad those are a lot more rare.

Vapor X for clay (although I think I finally found a worthy replacement)

Ubersonic 2 for hard court (down to my last 2 pair)

Be careful when you have so many pairs. The glue on the soles start to break down after 3 or 4 years. I used to stock up on shoes but then I realized that they were unusable after a few years.

I know what you mean. It depends on if they were stored properly before you buy them and how you store them. I had a pair of the Bigshots that started separating. I just superglued them. Seems to work fine
