If You Want To Win More Tennis Matches This Year, Do These 3 Things!

Okay.

In the last post.

I showed you guys how to start beating players that were better than you.

So.

In this one, I'm going to help you start winning more matches this year.

YES.

That's right.

If you do these 3 things, you should start seeing some positive results in about 3 months.

Fair enough?

One.

No more cheap points.

Most points are short and are won by unforced errors or forced errors.

In this case.

We are talking about unforced errors caused by a lack of concentration.

Look.

You must learn how to focus with meditation training, and more juniors and adults should practice this off the court.

Because.

By doing it daily, they will be able to execute better on it in their matches.

Two.

Develop a solid second serve.

We all know that…

You are only as good as your second serve is on any given day.

Unfortunately.

Most players have an unreliable second serve, and they end up double-faulting on big points.

Have you noticed that the first thing to break down with most players is their second serve?

This is why you have to get the reps in more during practice, and you have to accept the doubles why you are going through the process playing practice matches.

What you don't want to do is start pushing it in there when facing pressure.

And.

One big mistake I see happening with players is a lack of racket head speed on their second serve.

What many don't understand is this.

You actually need even more racket head speed for spin and kick serves.

Let me share this serve hacking tip.

At the start of the match.

Use a heavy second serve for your first serve to get a high percentage of them in and work the points.

Then.

After your nerves calm down.

Start going for more power and mix in different placement to keep them guessing.

Three.

Master your return game.

As I have already said.

The two most important shots in tennis are the serve and the return.

I read somewhere that.

The return of serve was practiced the least of all shots by juniors and adults.

Which is why most are inconsistent with their returns in matches.

Again.

Get the reps in during practice and develop more racket head control for dealing with the big servers.

You should focus and work on your hand and eye skills.

Let me share a coaching insight here.

Every player that I coached who focused on mastering their return game.

Started winning more matches by breaking their opponent's serve more, and it was the key to them taking their match play game to the next level.

Because.

They were able to dictate play more in their matches by taking control over the points, and players would mentally break down eventually against them.

So.

There is your proof, and think about all the great players on tour…

Who have a great return game.

With that being said.

How much are you working on your return game in practice?

Or should I ask?

How much should you be working on it?

Alright then.

Now.

Take those 3 tips and get to work on them and watch how you start dominating players in months.

Also.

Please share your results with me later.

Have a great weekend!

So I had to get better than my opponents to beat them. And I had to essentially play better to win more matches this year.

I'd never figure out myself.
