IG Prestige Midplus vs Pro

I'm debating on whether I made the right choice or not. I've just order myself a pair of IG Prestige Midplus. I already have a pair of Prestige Mids. The reason why I'm second guessing myself is the fact the mass on the Prestige Pro is what I like. However, the Midplus strung weight comes to 11.9oz so I guess it's heavy enough. I can always add more lead tape to get it heavier.

Anyways, I'm interested in knowing your experience. What I'm looking for is that you've demo both the Pro and Midplus and decided that the midplus was far better than the Pro or vice versa. I know it's personal choice but always like to read about people's experiences. Thanks for your time.

I haven't played with the new Pros yet but I just switched from the Mid to the MP. The other thing to keep in mind with the Pro is that is a 16x19 string pattern so it will be completely different than the MP regardless of the weight.

I play the IG Pro and I've hit with the Liquidmetal MP occasionally. From that experience I can say that the Pro definitely is the more aggressive stick. Don't know to which extent that applies to the IG MP though… Anyways, the Pro has more power, stability, spin and is more forgiving. Also, it has a that open string patter feel (don't know how else to explain it). If you customized the two to the same specs it would come down to this IMO:

IG Prestige Pro:
More Powerful
More Forgiving (larger sweetspot).
More Spin
Slightly Stiffer (perhaps)/Crisper (RA 66 vs 62)
'Open String Pattern Feel'

IG Prestige MP:
More Control
Slightly Softer/More Muted
'Dense String Pattern Feel'

Hope that helps :D

Crap. I think I made the wrong choice then. With your analysis, I thought it was the other way around. I was hoping the Midplus be more stable and comfortable.

I played with both, and chose Pro. MP felt very low powered. Did not feel fast. Not enough spin. In short, it not do anything for me. The Pro, on the other hand, clearly had plenty of power and plenty of spin. Very aggressive racquet. Very powerful serve. Stands up well to heavy hitting. Bigger sweetspot than the Mid. It hit all the tick marks for me (except feel). I later bought a used Youtek Pro -- the previous generation. To tell you the truth, I like this one even better. This one is much lighter ( mine came on the lighter side of the specs). Plus I trimmed the cap grommet to make it even more head-light. Now it is very whippy, and it works for me even in situations where very fast exchanges are needed.

Feel is not good, but performance is flawless. No shortcomings that I can think of.

If you would order an IG prestige pro it's very unlikely that the specs are accurate. The rackets are produced in China and weight, balance and sw are often all over the place.
It's better to know your specs and let TW find you a racket that you're looking for.

Never tried the head rackets btw but I used identical rackets in a dense and open pattern and I preferred by far the dense pattern. Much more control and with lower tension and thinner string gauge just as much power and spin.

In terms of stability and comfort you wouldn't notice a large difference between the two frames (if they are customized to the same specs).
The real difference is in the power, spin and forgiveness.

That difference of 4 pounts in flex means that the MP is more comfortable. If you have arm problems or prefer to avoid them, then you're usually better off with something more flexible.

I find plenty of power, spin and stability with my IG Prestige MPs but mine have the benefit of a lot of lead tape.

If you want the open pattern and power level of the pro, but prefer the feel of the MP....then try the microgel prestige pro. I found it to be softest feeling of the last 4 generations.
