IG Radical Pro vs IG Prestige Pro

Hi guys,

Hoping to get some opinions here but only on these two rackets rather than alternatives (I have posts in other threads on Exo3 Tour etc). I am going to have to buy one of these without the benefit of a trial so would welcome comments.

IG Radical Pro vs IG Prestige Pro.

I am a UK player, hard court in winter, artificial grass in summer. About an NTRP 4.0, maybe higher but improving quickly. However, when I find myself under pressure from higher quality players, my stroke mechanics can deteriote and sometimes leave me late, too close to the ball etc. Working on these hard. I want a heavier racket with good stability and control. My current stick is an unmodded IG Speed 300 (preferred it to the 315s) but get pushed around by heavy hitters especially on reaching defensive shots.

Ego wants Prestige Pro but the easier power of the Radical Pro (according to the TW reviews) seems to make sense especially if my full swing breaks down at any point. What do you think?

Play wise, I am a base liner and get a nose bleed if I go anywhere near the net!

Thanks in advance.

Hey Dgdavid. I haven't tried the radical pro, but i can tell you the prestige pro is a really good racket. Yes, it is difficult to pull shots through when your confidence drops and your strokes are messed up, but on the long run, you would get used to it. I'am a 4.5 all round player and i shifted to this stick. From other reviews i heard that the radical is too powerful.

Thanks Racketfever. A sales rep from a tennis website just gave me the very generalised comments of "both great rackets. if you are always on the sweetspot, definitely Prestige Pro. If you are often outside it under pressure, Radical Pro".

Very general comment but he did say if I am reaching, slightly out of position etc, the Radical Pro will get things back better. However, I am willing to sacrifice short terms results for longer term technique and sustained benefits!

Some reviews also say that the prestige mid has a sweetspot of the same size as the pro, with a better feel.... Haven't tried it yet, but definitely will....

well, I just pulled the trigger on the IG Radical Pro. If it goes pete tong, I'll **** it and try the Prestige Pro then but I fear the Prestige is a little beyond my current ability in a tough singles match.

Of course, I have a unused Exo3 Tour 100 and Dunlop Bio 500 Tour waiting for first hits soon but I am certain I will stick with one of these finally.

I tried the head youtek radical mp non ig version and I didn't like it, so between the two I would definitely go with the prestige.Having said that it is a lot heavier than the speed 300 and I would say the prestige is stick for an all rounder or serve and volleyer rather than a baseliner, but given how bad the radical is I would still go with the prestige

seems I was too late to save you

Its your choice. The radical would feel heavier than the prestige because of the higher swing weight. If i were you buddy, i'd really go with the Prestige (Which i already have)

The radical pro is different from the midplus. It's a great stick. If the balance doesn't bother you, then i see no reason you would not like it unless you like stiffer rackets.

I haven't hit with the IG Prestige Pro, but looking to demo one soon. However, I had a chance to hit the the IG Radical Pro and I thought it felt too light and unstable. My current racket is a Dunlop 4D Gel 200. TW has it weighing in at 11.9oz strung. Sometimes I find the Dunlop a bit too light and looking for a racket with a bit more plow through.
