Iga Swiatek admits to taking MTO due to tiredness

placebo

Semi-Pro
At the United Cup Finals before she was about to serve to stay in the match at 4-6 4-5 down against Coco Gauff when the American had all the momentum, Iga Swiatek took an MTO. Some thought it was related to her other MTO taken against Boulter the other day. Others supposed, perhaps gamesmanship. Now Swiatek has admitted that she was tired when she called the physio, not injured.

Not a big Iga fan but man so many of these players do this all the time. Not sure it's fair to call her out. I mean I have watched a million matches where the lady goes off court between sets. Im actually surprised now when It doesn't happen.
I think it's more of a problem that it's a (former) World No.1 doing this though. She's not just any player that should feel the need to play mind games to win matches.

You mean cheater that we thought was a cheater and turns out is a cheater, cheated again???

She’s always been a sore loser with the quick frosty handshakes, crying with her head down walking off the court.

She uses a lot of odd tactics, bathroom breaks, doing that stupid wave that should be a hinderance IMO to distract opponents.

The MTO for tiredness is terrible and now puts a target on her by umpires, officials and trainers to question the legitimacy of her injuries.

Yup, and she is an accidental doper too. Cheating is her core approach to advancement. Just another example.

The Polish WADA head has her back so cheat at doping.
Hold up your racquet just to ice the server.
Do a mexican hat dance when at the net and the opponent has a short ball.

There is nothing at all likable about her.

She took a MTO against Boulter in the match prior too. After she was broken in the third set, she took the break for 10 mins, then came back with her leg strapped but won the next 2 games to love.

The physio must have really worked a miracle

Actually if you look at her thigh muscles her "medication" and her "ban during her vacation" have worked in her favor.

Anyone who tells you that is normal muscle development in a female athlete in a 3 month span is full of it.

Another player I strongly and unequivocally dislike. She will explore any potential way of cheating, from gamesmanship to doping.

The Fed legal cheating incident comes to mind. He said he wasn't "injured", he just wanted to see if a massage would help sore muscles.
Talk Tennis; "He could at least have lied!!"
Yeah exactly, so many players exploit this rule, and suddenly Iga is the bad one for at least being honest.

Nothing wrong with the handshake that was like it used to be before the over the top handshakes we are used to see today especially on the mens side.

It is difficult to root for her even as her compatriot. The crippling levels of ambition that drive her to tears every time she loses, the holding up the server way more than statistically plausibly necessary, and my personal pet peeve: never applauding her opponent's great shots. There is just no way to ignore it, all those things add up. And then the jarring contrast with her relatively humble and straightforward demeanor off the court and in interviews. The only thing I'll say in her defense is that I thought Coco bulked up even more during the break, but that could be just camera angles.
My personal preference is for Hurkacz with his excessively apologetic attitude, even if it prevents him from winning more and imposing himself. But some of us Poles like a quiet underachiever more than a winner willing to do all it takes, which is not necessarily a good thing, and, dare I say, rather unamerican.

Changing rackets mid return game, dont forget that one.

Charging players who have an easy smash with potential of putting a racket clash and injury in their mind.

It's a long list

Was a fan, sadly her on court behaviour is abysmal.

Tennis Athletes are very professional. Not saying someone like Bublik can understand this. But just last year, Jannik was hampered due to high volume work in gym before clay season.

Iga is smart, she knows her body better than anyone here. And she also is professional player, making her money through playing this sport which none has experienced.

I stand with the player.
