Iga Swiatek is now the odds-on-favorite to win the 2020 French Open

Isn't that crazy? She's 19 years old, not even ranked in the top 50 and this is her first QF appearance in a Slam EVER.

Won her first 3 matches easily and trashed Halep in the 4th round, though. And also apart from Svitolina and Kvitova no-one that you'd consider to be a top player is left in the tournament. I mean Kenin is the 4th favorite and Ferro who I never even heard of is 5th.

Kvitova and Svitolina will not win. Pretty sure it is going to be unknown player. Hopefully it is someone who is better than Kenin

That’s like the equivalent of Sinner winning on the men’s side. I don’t think she should be the favorite, though. I’d give it to Kenin. She looks determined after getting double bageled by Azarenka in Rome. Then again, she did just get double bageled by Azarenka in Rome.

This FO is like playing with house money, I think the players are only playing at 80% they want the money but not a serious injury, so let us see next year if Iga, Hugo, Sinner really come through(though SInner has got game).

It was so odd seeing her dominate Halep like that today. Last year Simona rekt her, I guess she got a lot better?

I guess the oddsmakers watched her match against Halep today. Halep did not play badly and Iga just dominated her the entire match with big-hitting and no letdowns or nerves. It was impressive! Way better than anything I’ve seen from Svitolina, Kvitova or Kenin this week. Let’s see if she can keep it up for three more rounds…if she does, it will mark the emergence of a new WTA star.

What happened to Osaka in RG?
And to Azarenka?
I know they should’ve lost by now, but I didn’t see them.

Osaka didn't make the trip to Europe for the very short clay swing due to a hamstring niggle, which stunted her clay preparation.
Azarenka lost to Mugu in the Rome QF and then in the 2R at RG to Schmiedlova 2 and 2 which really wasn't expected. She was not happy with the weather conditions in her RG 1R match v Kovinic but she won that round comfortably.

I mean, the real test will come when (if) she plays Svitolina - one of the most decorated clay players of the past few years behind Halep. If she manages to topple Svitolina then I can see where this is all coming from. The big questions will be asked in the F if she gets that far - first time finalists can be extremely erratic in finals and their form can dip 10s of percentage points.
