I'm already over it

Strangely enough I’m over it faster than I thought. The whole thing stunned me at time but he broke the rules and it is what it is. It was golden opportunity to get 18 slams that will sting for Djokovic and us fans. However, the important thing is he learns from it and bounces back well on clay next. At least he’s fortunate that Nadal nor Federer are getting this slam either.

I must say in the GOAT race though this is massive news for nadal and his fans. Rafa will get a big lift from this going to clay season.

I think he is the greatest player to grace our sport, and one day will probably have the slam record to show for it. But he is also a petulant tw*t, who hopefully at last has learnt some humility. At least it didn't come at any cost of serious injury (or worse) to the line judge.

I hope he is competitive on the clay at RG next month. At least he won't have to deal with a crowd on Philippe Chatrier booing him.

Grace and Djokovic in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

I’m sorry but GRACE and DJOKOVIC do not and will never belong in the same sentence... more like, DISgrace :D

Right now it looks bad for Nadal that he is not playing USO. He would be fighting for the title against next gen.

Nadal probably skips FO. He has years left to win a couple of FOs. Other Majors time is maybe running out, still probably has another US Open left him but at FO guys barely win sets off him so he will likely feel he has 3 years left with chances in paris. He will not feel pressure to play this year. Not now.
As for Federer he is biggest gainer. Djokovic will never overtake him and given the mutual apathy each has for the other i suspect Federer is the one smiling the most.

Yeah true Federer will be loving it, no doubt about it. He still has the 3 slam gap too.

Nadal will never voluntarily skip the French after skipping the USO for one specific reason, and only one slam from 20. No offence, but of all the ridiculous things I've heard in 2020 that is by far the most ridiculous.

What will you say if he skips it?

I'll say I'm absolutely shocked and that I was wrong, and not for the first time. But surely you must be expecting him to play it. He's a huge favourite until proven otherwise, and Nadal isn't the type of player to throw away a chance and just say "yeah I've got 2-3 more RGs in me, no big deal if I skip this one." That's not Nadal at all. We've known the guy from afar for about 15 years now. It would be totally against everything that we know about him.

He's probably one of a few people who still thinks Federer can win at least 1 more slam too.

I think Federer is not done and could win AO and W next year. Only reason i say Nadal may skip paris is due to the massive spike in cases there.

Fair enough, but I think if Nadal thinks like that he may not play a slam at all until a vaccine is found. In which case he could be waiting a while. This isn't ending immediately after 2020 ends by most accounts. And all while Djokovic will keep playing because he doesn't care as much, and Federer will likely return.

Federer is absolutely determined to right the w2019 accident. I never write off a 20 Major winner. Federer is as tough as they come. His story not yet written. Especially with the Next Gen as average as they clearly are.

I have not seen you before, so I guess you are a new poster. Not that it matters but just an observation!

I am very optimistic about Roger Federer and I still believe he can win one more Wimbledon if things fall in place. I will never write him off at least there. AO also, I think he has some slim chances

The thing is on quicker courts like AO w and these new USO courts only Djokovic and Nadal in peak form can beat him. Nadal on grass is no threat to federer if he plays well and Djokovic is not as quick and strong as he was w 2019. If Federer and Djokovic play again on grass both playing well it will be a straight shootout but Federer has more firepower and Djokovic is not as good defensively. Given their last match on grass went to the wire i would back federer on grass v Djokovic everytime now . So providing he recovers from his knee issue i would make him comfortable fav fot W 2021. In Australia Nadal is often not at his best and if Federer is playing well nowadays he should beat Nadal there and v djokovic, again Djokovic does not defend as well now so the better attacking player should have the advantage. FO he has little chance and US Open Nadal would be favourite but Federer would have a good shot as 3rd fav. Ill bet Federer bags 2 more Majors Nadal 3. Djokovic may struggle from here as i expect to see his physical abilities to continue to decline.

At least I don't have to read the 17.5 posts, how this Slam was too easy for Novak, the pandemic era, etc.

What happened, happened. I hope Novak learns something from this.
Yes, let someone else enjoy this disputed GS. Neither Nadal nor Novak lost any points...

Not sure what Novak can learn from this, other than "you should not allow yourself to get broken in a set" and "do not send high balls toward the ball boys".
Novak did NOT hit that particular ball with anger.
He did hit it somewhat recklessly toward the ball boy and unfortunately hit the (thankfully white) lineswoman in the throat, giving a judge a chance to DQ him.
He apologized to her and of course she will "make a full recovery".

So it was unfortunate. It could happen to anybody.

According to the actual rule book they could give him a set penalty if they wanted, it was their call, but they have choose to default him.
Media and US Open tournament try to make it sound like it was "with anger" in order to justify that call and to make a story.
When Federer hit the ball boy in the balls with a ball (true case of a "ball abuse"), everyone simply laughed (as they probably should in that case).
This hit in a throat was not a laughing matter but it could go without DQ.
So it was NOT Novak's anger issues that got him out of the tournament. It was a bad luck and a judge's free decision.
Nothing "shameful" in what Novak did.

I am glad that he is out like this instead of getting injured or losing to some of the youngsters. If he lost then he would genuinely be beaten.
Like this he can still have the same confidence and feel like he is unbeaten by anyone (but himself?) this year, while at the same time get the "streak" monkey of his back.
It might help him focus better because he feeds on the hate and injustice. And it is hard to feed on empty stadium.

You're out of your freakin mind.
Hence why I said "best best" scenario...

No one apart from Nadal is winning the French open until minimum 2025/26, USO next year I think Djokovic will be finally too old, that leaves AO, and W, can't see him even being in the run remotely for anything else.
