I'm in London now, don't know how to buy a ticket for wimbledon

I know this is not the right forum but please someone tell me. I don't know what's the suitable forum for it.

I'm in London now for a medical exam on 4th of July, then I will be free for 2 days before I go back home on the 7th.

I'd like to purchase a ticket for a Fed match on either 5th or 6th of July (don't know which day he's playing). How to buy it? And how much am I expected to pay for the least expensive one? I don't mind the farthest seat Tbh, I just wanna go.

Any help?

Your only option is use the queue at this point. I think two days before a round tickets are on sale on ticketmaster at like 10am but good luck buying those.

Good luck because they go fast or because they are very expensive?

I’ve been able to buy good last minute seats for the US Open finals via TM (there’s always someone who has to cancel at the last minute) but I guess that doesn’t work for Wimbledon?

Good luck because they go so fast. I'm an LTA member so I had a chance to buy resale tickets a couple of weeks back, after 15 minutes of refreshing on multiple devices I finally got the chance to search for tickets - but there were none left. Someone else might be more lucky as obviously someone has to buy them but I wouldn't pin your hopes on it. People complain about the various Wimbledon traditions but honestly not having an easy way to guarantee tickets is probably the worst. I'd happily pay big money if I could get onto CC to watch Federer, but I'll probably never get the chance...

Well, here is how it goes. Unless you are a member of the Royal family or some famous person you have to wait in the queue. You have to be very patient. Bring your sandwich or whatever you like to eat. You have to think in advance though.

One option but this may be harder for a Federer match as it’s so popular is queue the morning of for a ground pass these are great as you can walk around the outside courts and see some great tennis.

Then around lunch time queue for an hour or so for a resold show court ticket this is a very cost effective and good way of doing things

You can go stand in line all day to maybe get lucky, or you can actually watch the tennis on TV. The archaic country club bullship they make you go through to get tickets is comical.

TheIntrovert is right. Thousands. If you don't live in London you have to think about a hotel, cab, etc. It piles up. I tried once and I failed so miserably. That was a long time ago. I'm Canadian btw. That was a complete mess. Never, ever again.

Make sure to turn up at least a couple of days in advance of when fed will play. There’s only 500 tickets that get allocated to the queue.

Federer will be playing on the 6th. Saturday. We know that because we know he's seeded 2.
You can queue for that. No problems. I wouldn't arrive any later than 5 AM the previous day. (on the fifth). It's not going to be expensive, queuing tickets are reasonably priced. You need to follow the twitter account of 'view from the Q and they give updates on the state on the Queue. I've Queued for Wimby at 5 AM the previous day was good enough for me to get Fed tickets on CC.

You need to bring a sleeping bag/tent in case it rains. And be close by (preferably airbnb if you can still get there) otherwise getting to Wimby at this hour will be hard. You'll be camping with many other Fedfans. Should be a fun experience. Getting tickets via resale is very very difficult. I suggest the Q.

For Fed it's no question. Of course overnight and you need to be there at the AM hours of the previous day, too. If this is a one-time deal, I wouldn't risk missing the first 500 places and end up with C1 rather than CC.

Yes but you still need to queue first week if you get there around 6am you should be fine they are around £25 and you can watch all the outside courts so 3-18 first week there are so many matches that you are guaranteed to see some really good players on the outside courts

I want to add one thing and this is not about W per se. They should make it easier. You have to plan everything. It's hard to watch masters too. I find it stupid. As if you are fighting for your life. Chances that you can watch Fed, Novak or Rafa are next to nothing for us mortals.

Of course. You’ve heard of the Wimbledon queue, right? You can turn up at Wimbledon Park and wait patiently for a small number of tickets available for Centre Court, Court One or Court Two. You’ll have to queue from around 6am on the morning, if not before in order to get lucky, though.

If you can’t get on the show courts, you can also purchase a day pass which allows you access to all the ground courts from Nos 3 to 18. Prices start from £25. The All England Club will only accept cash on the day.

Good luck with that. I've queued maybe 6 times in two different Wimbledons, and it's not just standing in line, it's waiting in line day and night - sleeping on the sidewalk, ...and good luck if it rains. And that was the 'good old days' before increased security concerns and I believe now, even fewer queue tickets available.

If you want to queue and have a chance of getting in, go the first few days of the tournament and be as close to the front of the line as possible - which might mean more than 24 hours of waiting, overnight. It's not just a line, but more of an experience. And it can be fun if you don;t' have specific expectations such as seeing Fed on CC.

In the queue, people have tents with sleeping bags set up. (Dont know about 2019 however, with greater security concerns). And when the queue starts moving, and there are many people ahead of you, there is no guarantee that you will be able to even get a seat in CC - some will be available, but they go fast since queuers can request of the available tickets, not only which stadium but seating area where they want to be. But a CC match with Fed or any of the greats, or even with a lowly Brit scheduled on CC, go very fast.

Perhaps it's time for a dash of harsh reality. Accept that you are in competition with thousands of others, not only locals, but people who have come from around the world, who have traveled to London specifically to do exactly what you are wanting to do. I'm sorry to say, the odds of you succeeding are very, very small.

I’d say before even that. Particularly as it will be the weekend. 2 days minimum. As people come from abroad, what they like to do is that they’ll stay for in the queue and buy tickets on multiple days throughout the fortnight. It’s a battlefield

You may get lucky, once in the grounds, that departing ticket holders will pass you their centre/no.1 tickets.

One of my favorite days 'going to Wimbledon' was 'staying home' in the Bed and Breakfast we were staying in - about 4 blocks from the actual tournament, on the main drag. We sat, warm and dry, feet up, in front of the TV watching the live matches being played just down the road, sipping our hot tea and eating freshly baked scones with clotted cream. It was a day of intermittent light rain so the matches were on and off. We were thankful we had not queued through the previous miserable night as we watched bedraggled, live, spectators walk past our cushy location from our comfy seats and enjoying our creature comforts. It was, as they say, a moment.
