Immediately Removing Broken Strings?

When strings break, is it best to go ahead and cut them all out and remove them right away? I recently brought a racket in for re-stringing that had broken strings partially removed, and the stringer said it was bad for the frame to leave the broken strings in the racket. So is it best to cut and remove all the strings immediately after breakage?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. The broken strings were only in the racket about 3 days, so hopefully that was not enough time to cause any warpage.

Next time you break strings, especially somewhere other than the center, take a good look at the racket. You can clearly see the deformation. For example if you snap a main, the head will become much more skinny.

These stresses are extreme. In fact, there is over a thousand pounds of stress from the mains and crosses. The racket is made to have them balanced. This is why it is bad for the frame. Leaving them under tension in a deformed state can be bad.

With that said, it is not really that big of a deal. Many people as well as stringers leave racket laying around with a broken string all the time. Hell, even the pro's just toss their rackets down and pull out a new one.

I always have a pair scissors in my tennis bag and if I break a string or someone gives me a racquet to string for them that still has strings in them with one broken string I will cut all the strings to relieve any excess stress on the frame.
