Impressive Novak Djokovic.

Hi Everone:)

On 9th September 2013 R.Nadal beat N.Djokovic in the final of USO to capture his 2nd Trophy at USO and 13th Major overall.

This loss inspired N.Djokovic and He won 24 matches in row after that loss (still unbeaten). So this thread aims to discuss details of his Second longest Winning streak.

A) Tournament Victories -

He won 4 Tournaments in row plus 4 D.C. Rubbers.

1] China Open - 500 points ( bt. Nadal 6-3 6-4 )

2] Shanghai Masters - 1000 points ( bt Del potro 6-1 3-6 7-6 0 )

3] Paris Masters -1000 points ( bt. Ferrer 7-5 7-5 )

4] Y.E.C. - 1500 points as 'Unbeaten Champion' ( bt. Nadal 6-3 6-4)

5] Four Victories at D.C. - 300 points.

So Novak Djokovic added total 4300 'Emirates ATP Ranking Points' during this
streak ( Which is more than Winning 2 Majors )

B) Victories over 'Top Ten' -

In my opinion victories over top players are very important to decide how someone dominated Tennis for given Interval.

1] Nadal - Beat Nadal twice ( China open , YEC Finals)

2] Ferrer - Beat Ferrer once ( Paris Final )

3] Del Potro - Beat Del potro twice ( Shanghai Final , YEC RR )

4] Federer - Beat Federer twice ( Shanghai SF , YEC RR )

5] Berdych - Beat Bedych once ( D.C. Rubber )

6] Wawarinka -Beat Wawarinka twice ( Shanghai Q.F. , YEC SF )

7] Gasquet - Beat Gasquet twice ( China open SF , YEC RR )

8] Raonic - Beat Raonic once ( D.C. Rubber )

9] Tsonga - Beat Tsonga once ( Shanghai SF )

So he beat 9 different 'Top Ten' Players 14 times with 30-5 set adavantage
against 'Top Ten' ( Dropped just 5 sets in 14 meetings ) , with 85.71% Ratio.

C) Overall Set Wins-lost - 64-8 ( 88.88%)

Conclusions-
1) 28 Matches in row ( 24 BO3 , 4 BO5 )
2) Out of 24 - 14 against 'Top Ten' ( 58.83%)
3) Added 4300 ' Emirates Ranking Points' ( More than 2 Majors )
4) Overall 88.88% sets won ( 64-8) and Against 'Top Ten' 85.71% ( 30-5)
5) Won 4 Tournaments ( YEC , 2 Masters , 1 500 )
6) Almost confirmed He will be W.No 1 after USO 2014 ( May be before ) in
in my opinion. ( In 52 week Ranking )

This is my request to every member of Forum suggest some more stats to analyse 'Winning Streak' or correct if I have mistaken.

Thanks for Reading.

He's coming back. You can tell Rafa knows it and he's scared.
I am a huge djokovic fan and all but don't get your hopes up.

Djokovic played at a top tier level the last quarter of the season and built a ridiculous streak. But unfortunately that streak and momentum is stopped by the off-season.
Theres no telling who will be hot and ready at the australian open but i figure djokovic and nadal will dominate the rest of the field next year.

Hopefully he didnt leave his best tennis in the relatively meaningless post U.S Open swing of last year (which wouldnt surprise me either way, yes or no).

I think Novak will still be hungry during the off-season though, since even though he's had great success in these past few months, he's only really been winning relatively minor tournaments. He's itching to take it to Nadal in a grand slam, plus he wants to win RG, so I think he'll still have plenty of motivation to train in the off-season and start off strong next year.

Great for Nole. I can't see him not reclaiming nr.1 spot.

It will be unlikely that he could reclaim it in 2014 though. Think through it. Nadal is defending near 0 points from 2 slams - AO & Wimbledon. So anything he earns there will move him ahead of Novak much more. So even if Nadal has a bad North American swing in August and September he will still be likely ahead of Djokovic. So can Djokovic post US open 2014 - actually no, there is nothing Djokovic can do to improve on his record from 2013 - as he had an undefeated record in 2013 - so no points gain.

It is looking extremely unlikely for Djokovic to reclaim the top spot in 2014 unless Nadal's form falls dramatically away.

Sometimes when Djokovic wants something badly he wants it too badly and ends up faltering anyway. I am also sure Nadal will be hungry which IMO he wasnt post U.S Open, and he was also playing on courts he never does very well on (he actually did better last year than the norm).

Fair comment. I really can't wait for 2014- should be a great year.

Everbody knows Rafa is greatest Fighter in the 'History Of Game', He never scares to any one.

Yeah, this is strange. He says he is a coward in real life, just not in tennis.
He is afraid of the dark and being alone in the house.

I guess courage is not absence of fear. But being afraid and still doing it.

I don't know how, but Rafa transforms on a tennis court to a different player.
He is just a hunter wants to destroy his pray.

I guess this means confidence and fear can have different levels depending on the stuff you do.

For example some guys can feel like gods at their job and what they do, but can't talk to women.

Precisely. And that is what's wrong with Nadal being atop of ATP rankings. Behaving like a thug has no place in a gentlemanly game like tennis. When Federer was #1, the sport was truly at its zenith. With Nadal's snarling, rituals, vamosing on UE, brutal muscling of the ball, the sport is at an all time low. Personally, I think greatest tennis year was 2007 with classy players with all court game like Justine Henin and Roger Federer dominating the game. Right now, tennis is hardly worth watching. :(

I guess you do have a point. I forgot that today top guys are more balanced, so you need less achievements to be nr.1

I mean in 2012 it was easy to be nr.1 too. Fed only needed to edge competition slightly. I mean Rafa was able to be nr.1 with doing nothing in 2 majors.

While I prefer Fed too, this is relative. Some people don't like gentlemen and want to see a real battle, not just a game and display of skills.

Nadal, has a lot of fans, so a lot of people do like what he does, so I guess we are just different. And a lot of people do like tennis today as it is. I'm not one of them.

But it's fine, it's a free world, nobody is forcing us to watch it. I just go and watch older matches and clips.
