In a slump...

Ever had the feeling for a few weeks where nothing feels right? Footwork is off, kinetic chain is off, swing is off, racket and strings feel super stiff, no power. Nothing feels right at all. How do you deal with getting out of a funk like this?

Your mentality is wrong. Thinking that your in a slump will increase your chances of playing badly and maintaining a slump.

That being said, you should do a technique check and make sure you are not developing any bad habits.

Since we play recreational tennis, there are always a few things off with us. That's the nature of recreational tennis.

If we are lucky we start with an easy opponent and get more confident and try harder and likely head down the right path. If we are unlucky and start too fast, too difficult, the few things that are off will get blown out of proportion and things will spiral down.

I agree on the front of the slump mentality. I'm pretty sure my technique is not the problem.

I wish it was only rec tennis. I'm looking to earn a scholarship and/or play college somewhere, so tennis is somewhat like a job for me and not just purely "for fun"

Fatigue; lack of sleep; lack of focus; lazy feet; lazy body singularly or in combination. Get enough sleep or drink some coffee. If you find that you cannot focus during practice, best to take some time off. Homework or other worries can also affect your ability to concentrate. Leave those issues at home or don't practice and address those other nagging worries. HTH.

Bro you're 15

You're probably growing, when I go through small growth I am messed up even if it's just a centimeter

And no coach really wants a player that whines, tennis hs ups and downs but you gotta stay bright or you won't really get anywhere with it

150 kids in the us will get a full scholarship

I wouldn't worry so much about that.

If you're not in the 150 the you can take a little stress off yourself knowing you won't get a full ride.

I'm going to a great d3 because of tennis, but I always wanted to get a full ride, I just found better options in d3 than in any d1

Actually, far fewer than this will earn a FULL scholarship. Schools have to 4.5 scholarships to split up among a team, so unless you're a very special player - or a special foreign player, you will not get a full ride. You'd have an infinitely better chance getting an academic merit or need-based scholarship.

I Dont think AHJS should be drinking lol. I think he is only 15 yrs old and is putting too much pressure on himself. He is a solid 5.0 player but maybe just needs a long break or a good beat down lol
