From a scale of 0-10, 0 being the spin potential of wilson natural gut and 10 being the spin potential of RPM blast. Where would ALU Power fall on this spectrum?
I use a western forehand and I'm still deciding between RPM blast and ALU power. And just saying, I've used full beds of both wilson NXT and RPM blast on my blade 98s (I'm switching to the rf97 soon) and I notched an enormous difference in spin. With rpm blast, the ball would make crazy arcs in the air. I felt as though I could barely get half the spin with NXT. What I'm wondering is, will the extra spin potential of RPM blast be worth the sacrifice of the power and feel ALU power provides? I'm just wondering how close they are in spin potential. If they're pretty close to each other by the standards of most other strings, I think I'll go with ALU power. The only thing I'm wondering is how far apart ALU and RPM are in spin. That's all I want to know, as someone who hasn't used ALU before.Honestly the spin difference is minimal for most of the strings, and spin is most closely associated to the player and racquet rather than the string used. If you get 5% more spin with one string vs 10% more with another, is that going to win you the set? Changing the technique is more important. Find a string that fits your game in terms of price, performance, and feel. RPM is a bit stiffer, ALU slightly softer, both have spin. Do you notice a big difference in the spin of Nadal when he 'changed' from Duralast to RPM?
There are many strings that have more 'spin potential' than RPM, you can check the tennis warehouse data.
Yeah, but I don't care about these strings. All I'm asking for is the difference in spin between ALU power and RPM blast by using NXT as a reference. Then you'd have hundreds of strings with scores of -20
Ok, thanks for the input. What about regular ALU though?if you use alu power rough you'll get on your scale to 11. from my experience so far it "outspins" rpm blast effortlessly and also keeps playing for a little bit longer than rpm blast, although if you don't break it in 4-5hrs of practice you might be running into some problems. the rpm blast nevertheless "dies" even sooner than that.
