In the Zone... then NOT

GOOOOOGA

Rookie
i had one of those annoying and confidence-killing moments. i was playing the #2 seed in this L3 tourney in the first round. i started out real nervous and lost the first set 3-6. but suddenly, EVERYTHING started to click. EVERYTHING. i took the second set 6-1 and then went up a break 2-1, then 3-1, then he served to hold. i went up in that game love-40, but ended up losing the game. everything went downhill from there. my "in-the-zone" feeling disappeared, i held to make it 4-2, but then he broke me to make it 4-4. we ended up going into tiebreak, i went up 5-0, but ended up losing the tiebreak 11-9. emotionally draining, i thanked my opponent for a great match, but my heart sank and i didn't talk for hours.

is there anything i should do if my 'in-the-zone' play just disappears? is there anyway i can slow down the inevitable decline in play? i KNOW it wasn't a choke job, because i felt no nerves.it was just that the guy started to hit unbelievable passing shots, but i still didn't change my game plan of coming up to net as much as possible. i got about 65% first serves in, 3 doubles the entire match. the guy beat me, but i wish i was able to put a stranglehold on the lead.

Whoa, someone from Maryland. 90% of the time I'm at College Park, which part of Maryland are you in GOOOGA? And you sound decent and competitive, how old are you and if schooling, which school?
