In your opinion which players past and present could beat Nadal 2010 USO ?

I do hold that year in very high regard ,but as I was reading here there seems to be a huge disagreement as to exactly how impressive he truly was.

So who exactly beats him ?
Not many at all.

Maybe someone like Djokovic 2011/15 or Federer 2004-06.

I mean lately most topics are about Nadal lol I love it
Got confused due to the gif.

But yes of course the topics should be about the World no. 1 and someone who can equal or surpass the slam record.

What do you think of AO 2020 ?

Would it be Rafa or Djokovic/Federer or someone else ?

Sampras would have taken that chump to school
I think you are selling Rafa short, it will be an incredible match for sure. Don't think Sampras ever faced someone who could hit as heavy as Rafa.

2011-19 Djokovic.

2014-19 Federer.
Not sure about the second one, Federer really hasn't performed well at the open since 2010-11. With exception of 2015.

And I have my doubts about how much 2015 will be able to do against a Nadal who will win free points on serve and expose his net rushes from the back of the court.

I believe an exceptionally solid aggressive baseline player will have the chance of winning . That's why I chose 2006 Federer and 2011 Djokovic.

Del potro in his 2009 F form might stand a chance as well.

From my time of watching, I can only think of
2 -3 year winners who could really pose a challenge to Rafa.

A testament to the hard work Nadal put in to win his first HC slam.

Federer 04/06.
Djokovic 2011
Sampras 93/95

Very difficult to compare prior to that as it was all less baseline orientated. Lendl/Mac/Connors would all have decent chances in their best runs.

Do you mean all those players had a chance or you mean they would authomatically win?

If you mean they had a chance, I would agree, but still nobody knows who would indeed win.

Have a good chance. Maybe greater than 50%. Certainly by no means automatic victory. Nadal 2010 was very strong

Maybe Djokovic 2011. That's about it. It's a pity their 2010 and 2011 finals didn't go the distance, they were both true peak-for-peak heavyweight duels.
Federer in 2005 had a higher overall level, but the matchup advantage would give Nadal the win IMO.

Honestly Sampras should have a horrendous matchup with Nadal. Nadal won 96% of serve games at the USO. Sampras won't frigging break Nadal lol.

Obviously peak Fed and peak Djoko will win a decent amount of matches, but Nadal gonna win his fair share of matches vs any of them.

Debatable. You have to take matchup into account. Federer's forehand was GOAT-tier in 05 but his backhand was still a weakness, which a confident, invincible Nadal would've pounded into submission. Federer almost lost to Nadal in Miami 05 too, when Rafa was a baby compared to his 2010 form.
Miami and USO were completely different courts back then, plus fed has had problems in miami against so many guys.
His BH was a weakness but certainly not on a fast HC like USO2005. He would blast winners from everywhere on court to take down rafa in 4 sets.. 2010 djokovic wasn't at his best and yet it took 4 sets for rafa to take him down. 2010 rafa's form at USO is highly overrated (along with Feds 2004 uso final).

Remember Hewitt nearly took Fed 5th and Agassi was toe to toe before getting tired. Not saying Nadal wind but it would go down to the wire. Probably 5 sets.

Personally I think only Djokovic could match him. No one else imo.

USO is much different to something like WTF. The ball gets up so much higher and I doubt Federers BH of 04-08 could handle it.

The OP is acting like 2010 USO Nadal is some kind of HC God. He's won 19 total HC titles in his career, Fed's won 71, so that puts it into perspective.

Who would beat Nadal in 2010 at the USO if all were playing at a high level?

Lendl
McEnroe
Becker
Safin
Agassi
SAMPRAS (easily, in straight sets)
Djokovic in 2011/2015 mode

I omit Fed because in 2010, Rafa mentally owned him. I think Nadal beats Fed in that hypothetical final, but the players listed above take Nadal out and Pete would do it in straights.

You do realize they're just talking about his performance at that tournament alone and not his whole HC career. Also, I think you're underrating Rafa a bit there. I was a Safin and Agassi fan back in the day, but I don't think any version of them at the USO beats Nadal in 2010. The guys from the 80's I'm not sure because the game was just so different back then that it's virtually impossible to tell who would win in a hypothetical matchup. I think 2011 Djokovic or Sampras from like 1993-1996 would be the best bet to beat out 2010 Nadal, but it sure as hell won't be straight sets - no matchup between 2 GOAT candidates at their peaks will end in straight sets

Wait has Federer ever actually beaten The Nadal? Reading this forum, you wouldn't think so.

Pete would get toasted by Rafa.

Straight sets is too much. It is harder to match Nadal up with the first 3 for obvious reasons the eras are too different.
