I think he's done well to climb up to number 7 considering the draw. Hopefully, he doesn't lose his rhythm for his next match. At least he'll be seeded in the top 8 in Miami, so no "quarter of death" there.
yeah, his live ranking right now is no.7 I think. I wonder if he wins, if he will withdraw from miami.

Unlikely. Remember last year he withdrew. I don't think he'll do it two years in a row. Miami's been really hyped about his return. Considering he may not play a lot in the clay season, I doubt he'd withdraw.

Sorry about your illness Nick. Get well soon.

That means Federer is the survivor of the "quarter of death".:D

What I observed from many tournaments is that survivor of the 'quarter of death' usually have a relatively easy ride in the end. In case of Fed, he only had a (could have been) challenging match with Nadal.

I can never follow ATP points, but I'm assuming that seeding is done by ranking, and ranking is determined by the last 52 weeks.

Usually, seeding is done based on the ATP ranking on the Monday before the tournament starts. Most draws are done on Friday or Saturday. The draw ceremony for Miami is on Monday afternoon, so I assume they'll use the draw for that day.

I only know Fed's ranking is likely to go up and up with his record this year averaged into the last 52 weeks.

Well, it's not a given. As long as he continues to perform well and gain points, then yes his ranking will go up. But the guys between 5-10 or maybe 12 are pretty close together at the moment.

If Federer skips most or all the tournaments preceding the FO, his ranking may go back down. But then again, he isn't really defending much/anything. It would be good for him to build a buffer between now and the end of Miami.

Well, I'm looking at this:

At 3,305 he'll go up to 4,305 if he wins IW, which he really should at this point. That should keep him in a pretty good place for awhile.

I AM DISAPPOINT!

This sucks big time. That's the only way fed was going to get past this match Nick the Dick was going to win this tourney, he was playing at a much higher level than anyone else.

I mean when is KeiSuck playing? Did that match get moved up? I guess not. Effing food posion! I think players should not eat to avoid these types of unfortunate situations!

I DEMAND TO SEE THE DOCTOR'S LETTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAN'T GO BACK TO SLEEP NOW THEY'RE SHOWING SEXY WOGI BLASTING THE WORRIER OFF THE COURT.

Hard to say. Nick still had a couple of killers like Cobra-Kei Nishikori and StaniBULL WAR-inka remaining in the draw even if he had gotten through Federer. Not a lock to win anything.

Yet Nick has a 0-3 record vs Kei Nishikori of all people. Nick winning the tournament wasn't a given, nor was it a given Nick would have defeated Federer in Federer's current form. Nick has been inconsistent from match to match so who knows what version would have shown up today vs Federer.
